The Smile On The Crocodile Widens
Local Badminton Club, The
Kirkby Crocodiles, who
were formed only three years ago, have had another tremendously successful season
in the Nottinghamshire and District Badminton League, their seven teams winning
no less than four titles and being runners up for two others.
Only
one team failed to win any honours and this was because key players were unavailable
for vital matches, due to injury, resulting in one match having to be forfeited
through lack of players. This was particularly disappointing as they had won
all three of their opening games and looked certain to do well.
The Crocodiles results this season have surpassed their efforts last year, when they won two titles and were runners up in two others and the club feels that these successes and the resultant publicity helped to attract good players to the club and in part contributed to the continued success this year.
The club is hoping to continue to succeed next year but realises that as they progress up the league tables this will become increasingly difficult and in order to build on their success they are hoping to attract more players of ability to further strengthen their squad. Any interested parties can contact Ron Dennis on 01623 559 207.
Our two other local teams Byron and Mansfield Oaktree also had their share of success, Byron winning two titles and Oaktree winning one title and being runners up for another.
