Mixed luck

No6 seeds Nathan Robertson and Jenny Wallwork crashed 21-12 21-13, to Muhammad Rijal and Debby Susanto (Ina) in the 2nd round of the BWF Djarum Indonesia Open Super Series in Jakarta.

But the Cotgrave star had better luck in the men's doubles, teaming up with Anthony Clark to beat Naoki Kawamae and Shoji Sato (Jpn) 21-16 21-17.

The six-time English National champions were then too strong for Indonesia's Muhammad Ahsan and Bona Septano in the quarter-finals, winning 21-19 21-12.

The unseeded Notts pair trailed 13-9 and 18-15 in the opening game, but finished strongly to snatch it with a three-point surge from 19-18 down.


They were always in control in the second game, turning a slender 7-6 lead into a

13-8 advantage before pushing on for victory.

Clark, whose Yonex All England and Yonex European Championship bids were hit by back and leg problems, is returning to form ahead of the World Championships in Paris in August.
