Nottinghamshire badminton players complete Coast to Coast Challenge

Eight members or associates of Crusader, Bingham and Forest Badminton Clubs successfully completed a coast to coast bike ride over three sunny days in June.

Departing from Morecambe on the west coast, we followed ‘The Way of the Roses’ (National Cycling Route 69) which took us to Bridlington on the east coast via Skipton and York.

We were a diverse group of riders, varying in ‘enthusiasm’ and ‘ability’. Everyone put in a considerable amount of training prior to the event which proved valuable throughout.

Most of the 10,000 feet of climb was completed over the first day and a half - Greenhow and Settle hills provided the toughest tests. Once at the summit the rewards were magnificent views over the Yorkshire Dales and beyond. A perfect time to enjoy a few well deserved beverages!

The third day out of York was much easier but none the less beautiful.

Before we knew it, we had arrived at the promenade in Bridlington for the obligatory photographs. Everyone stayed overnight in Bridlington to properly celebrate our achievement which is one that we will all remember fondly.

If your badminton club is looking for an ‘off season’ challenge we can recommend 'the Way of the Roses' ... over three sunny days.
