Rushcliffe Win 2007 Youth Games

Saturday July 7th 2007 was the culmination of weeks of work by the youth games badminton teams. These teams represented eight districts within Nottinghamshire and were comprised of 4 boys and four girls plus two reserves drawn from years 8 & 9 from the local schools. None of these players had previously played for clubs or had received county training. The team captains selected 10 players from an initial group of 20 for up to 6 weeks additional coaching

The eight districts were split into two groups and these teams played boys and girls singles and doubles and one mixed doubles. The teams then played of against of against each other for final positions.

At the half way stage the young players were given a demonstration by some of our county junior?s, followed by, a have a go against them session. This was good fun for the participant and gave them a chance to play against the best in Nottinghamshire.

The county juniors also scored all the games for the players and ensured that the day progressed smoothly. The organisers wish to acknowledge this contribution without which the Games would be possible.

The Results were:-
1st - Rushcliffe
2nd - Bassetlaw
3rd - Ashfield
4th - Nottingham City
5th - Gedling
6th - Newark & Sherwood
7th - Mansfield
8th - Broxtowe

Congratulations go to all the participants for a super day of badminton.

Graham Atkin - NJBA Chairman
