Honorary League
Secretary's Report
2005/06
After very many years of Nottinghamshire Badminton Association membership, Gotham found they were no longer able to continue and had to resign, although the emergence of two new clubs – Naseeb and Unity – meant an increase of one club and two teams since the start of the 2004 -2005 season. Unfortunately two other teams withdrew during the current season to leave the numbers on a par.
The registration of members with both the Notts League and Badminton England has improved immensely this year – keep up the good work!
Two reminders:-
If in doubt please talk to me.
There has been the usual clutch of re-arranged matches running into April. If a match is postponed early in the season, please fix a new date immediately.
The most successful clubs were:-
Beauvale - With only two mens teams, both are promoted, 1st team champions of Division 1 and 2nd team runners-up in 5B.
Beeston Fields - Four teams promoted – one as winners and three as runners-up.
Beeston Valley - Also have four teams promoted – two winners and two runners-up. 1st Ladies into Premier for the first time.
Bingham - Completed a hat-trick of Premier Mens titles, also runners-up in Mens 3A and knock out cup.
Forest - Retained the Premier Ladies title, winners of 5A Mixed, and runner-up in Premier Mixed.
Kirkby Crocodiles - Five title-winners from ten teams as they climb the leagues, also winners of the knock out cup.
Phoenixwood - Three league winners and one runner-up from nine teams. 1st Mixed up to Premier.
Redhill - Two divisional winners and three runner-up from ten teams, 1st Mixed back to Premier at first attempt.
Southwell Centre - Two Mixed and one Mens team winning their division from six teams.
Unity - Promotion for both their teams in their first season in the league.
University - Both Ladies teams winning their division as well as 2nd Mixed, with two Mens teams runners-up.
West Bridgford - Regained the Premier Mixed title and were also runners-up in Premier Ladies.
Publicity in the Evening Post seems to have fallen by the wayside, but reports appear regularly on the website. Thanks being due to John Sawyer, Paul Bexon and Mark Ransom. My thanks are also due to Bob Columbine for his organisation of the Knock-Out Cup, and to Alison Bexon and Dave Martin for their wisdom and knowledge on the League Executive Committee.
Finally – Proposed date for 2006-2007 Fixture Meeting:-
7.00
pm Thursday 21st September 2006 at David Lloyd Aspley.
