Two opening victories from a strong Bingham 2 side, beating Mapperley Park 1 8-1 and Nottingham Vets 1 9-0, installs them as Division 1 mens favourites for a return to Premier, as Mapperley Park 1 bounced back from their defeat at Bingham 2 to defeat Phoenixwood 1 6 3, Steve Smith and Craig Day taking their three rubbers.

Robert Richards and Eddie Wright were undefeated to lead Redhill 1 to a 6-3 win at East Leake 1 in 2B.  Paul Elliot and Steve Barton anchored Rushcliffe Arena 1’s 5-4 win at Kimberley 2 with a maximum.

Byron 1 opened their season in Premier Mixed with a close encounter at West Bridgford & Long Eaton 1, Neil White and Sam Reynolds notching a maximum in a 5-4 victory.

In 3A, Kevin Lowater and Adeline Jones’ three rubbers were instrumental in Boots 1’s 6-3 success against Mapperley Park 2, whilst in 3B Asif Kassam and Gail Weaver’s maximum led Beeston Fields 4 to a 7-2 win over Adbolton Crows 2.

Phoenixwood Mens’ teams opened the season in fine style, the first team winning 8-1 at University 2 and the seconds notching two convincing victories in 3B, 8-1 at East Leake 2 and 9-0 at University 4. Unfortunately their Ladies were not able to replicate this situation, the seconds going down 8-1 to University 1, with the third team losing out 3-6 at home to David Lloyd Aspley in Division 3 and then 0-9 away at Byron 1.

In their own private battle in Premier Mixed, Bingham 1 defeated Bingham 2 7-2 , whilst an experienced Bingham 3 overcame West Bridgford & Long Eaton 2 8-1 in Division 1. West Bridgford & Long Eaton 2 fared better at Byron 2 winning 6-3, Steve Gregory and Deb Kerry scoring all Byron’s rubbers.

A maximum from David Jones and Jenny Sykes guided Adbolton Crows 3 to a 7-2 win over Byron 5 in 5A, whilst veterans Don Woodward and Angela Walker gave the run around to the youth of University 4, taking their three rubbers in Redhill 4’s 6-3 win.

Division 6A saw East Leake 3 gain two 6-3 victories, beating their own fourth team, and then winning away at Kimberley 3 by the same score.  The fourth team then lost out 5-4 at Rushcliffe Arena 2 despite Kevin Dyson and Saeetal Patel being undefeated.

In very few matches played in the Mens and Ladies sections, Bingham 1 scored a comfortable 8-1 win over University 1 in Mens Premier, Redhill 1 notched a 7-2 win away at Mapperley Park 3 in 2B, and Byron 4 overcame Adbolton Crows 2 7-2 in Division 4A, Nick Harman and Parminder Pabla being unbeaten.
