Bridgford Cruise To Mixed Title
 
11th April 2003

West Bridgford took the Premier Mixed title with an 8-1 victory over Bingham who finished as runners-up.

Byron were third, with Robert Adcock and Dot Herbert undefeated in their 5-4 win over West Bridgford A.

Mansfield Oaktree clinched promotion from Division One by beating Nottingham University 5-4, despite a maximum from Sam Margolis and Lucy Heddon. But they went down 5-4 to Bingham B, Tony Gleave and Chris Stephenson taking three, to leave the students as champions.

Beeston Fields took the 2B title with a 9-0 win at Bingham C. Boots won 5-4 at Adbolton Gedling, edging them in front for the 3B title, with Adbolton Gedling as runners-up.

Joe Ames and Lynn Naillard had a maximum to guide Radcliffe Knights to a 6-3 win at University Hospital B to keep them in 4A. Colin and Vicki Leach were unbeaten for Adbolton Gedling A, but saw the team go down 5-4 at Woodthorpe in 5A.

Byron A clinched the 2A Men's title with a 7-2 win at Beeston Fields. Beeston Valley notched their only win of the season at South Normanton, despite a maximum from P Stanton and K Marriott.

Andy Cairns and Vince Handley led Crusaders to a 6-3 win at Nottingham Veterans in 3A. Joe Ames and Jon Clayton's three helped Radcliffe Knights to a 5-4 win over Boots A and the 3B title.

In 5A, Rushcliffe Arena A won their last two matches to beat relegation by just one rubber. Mike Brooks and Charlie Fearns starred for Kirkby Crocodiles A in their only win at David Lloyd WB B in 6A, Beauvale C ensuring promotion, despite losing 5-4 at David Lloyd Aspley A.

Pam Wallace and Hilary Pollard scored all Rushcliffe Arena's rubbers in a 6-3 loss to Boots A in 3A. Pat Davidson and Julie Mathews conceded only 11 points for Phoenixwood C in a 6-2 win over Byron A. Kirkby Crocodiles won 5-4 at Carlton Forum with three from Pat Betts and Eileen Griffin to clinch the 4B title.

Bridgford Rise To The Challenge
5th April 2003

West Bridgford rose to the challenge of the possibility of losing their Premier Mens title by beating rivals Bingham 6-3. Darryl and Kristian Roebuck were undefeated. They still have one match to play and have an equal 41-13 rubbers record.

Forest also won 6-3 in their final match at Mansfield Oaktree with three from Adam Buck and Martin Norman to preserve their status, while Bingham B's 9-0 win at Phoenix A should keep them in Division One.

University Hospital gained their only victory in 2A, Adrian Elson and Charlie Parr being undefeated in a 7-2 success against Beeston Valley.

Nason Khan and Ben Sanders starred for Beeston Fields A but their team went down 5-4 at Carlton. University Staff clinched the 4A title by beating Byron B 5-4, R Burrows and J Burton being unbeaten. Kirkby Crocs staking their claim to the runners-up spot in 5A, Paul Holmes and Kevin Davis recording a maximum in their 7-2 win over Rushcliffe Arena A.

Phoenixwood secured their Premier Ladies status by overwhelming Bingham A 9-0, whilst Boots scored two wins in 2B, beating Byron 5-4 despite the visitors Denise Lewis and Maggie Green being undefeated, following this up with a 6-3 win at Adbolton Gedling.

Ailsa Townley and Kerie Mottershead notched a maximum to guide Beeston Valley to a 5-4 win against Byron, and possible promotion from 2B, while a 7-2 success at David Lloyd Aspley by Nottm Vets A clinched the 3A title.

Beeston Fields A stay in the frame in 3B, H Weaver and A Walker taking three rubbers in a 7-2 win at Phoenixwood C, Kirkby Crocs remaining unbeaten in 4B with an 8-1 win at Byron B.

South Normanton A closed their season with a 5-4 win over Boots in Mixed 2A in a match of five three-setters, Boots beating Old Crows 5-4 to stay in the hunt in 3A, but had to give best to the visitors Steve Wilks and Sarah Blundy who were undefeated.

Phil Marshall and Donna Thorpe scored three rubbers for Rushcliffe Arena in 3B, but saw their team go down 5-4 to Bingham D, whilst Beeston Fields B's 7-2 win over Beeston Valley A was achieved with three rubbers from Geoff and Jill Davison, leaving both teams level at the top of 4A with 37 rubbers.

Mansfield Oaktree B take the 6B title by white-washing Gotham 9-0, a maximum from Rick Banks and Ann Smedley leading St Giles A to a 6-3 win over David Lloyd Aspley A in 7 A, Kirkby Crocs A taking the 7B title with a 7-2 win at Woodthorpe A.

Bridgford Make It Five In A Row
28th March 2003

Despite West Bridgford celebrating their early capture of the Premier Ladies title for the fifth year in a row there are many issues to settle in the other leagues. In Premier Mixed, West Bridgford A won 7-2 against Redhill to give themselves a chance of avoiding the drop.

Phoenixwood pushed for the runners-up spot in Division One by beating Bingham B 6-3.

In 2A, Mansfield Oaktree A were relegated, despite a hard fought battle against Bingham C who won 6-3.

Phoenixwood C are also going down after a 6-3 home loss to Beeston Valley.

Nottm Vets A finished with a flourish in 3A, defeating Boots A 7-2 and Carlton 8-1, to step into the promotion picture.

A maximum from Phil Gregory and Maggie Green guided Byron B to a 6-3 win at Old Crows A and a likely runners-up spot in 4B.

In 4A, Eric Tan and Janet Nash were undefeated as Adbolton Gedling A overcame Nottm Vets C 5-4 to remain unbeaten.

Woodthorpe stay on their heels with a 6-3 win at Sherwood Mount A, Peter Huxley and Julie Johnson with a maximum.

Mansfield Oaktree B are almost certain to win 6B after their latest 9-0 success against Phoenixwood G.

Redhill D top 7A, their latest win at the expense of Kirkby Crocs 5-4.

Veterans Mark Attewell and John Fletcher were unbeaten to lead Bingham to a 6-3 victory at Beauvale in Mens Premier.

Andy Bennett and John Gladish recorded a maximum as Bingham C won 5-4 at University Hospital in 2B to push Hospital down a division.

Carlton A drop out of 4A after 9-0 losses to Byron B and Woodborough, while Beauvale B's 8-1 win at Redhill B puts them in the promotion picture.

Beeston Valley B stay in the hunt for second place in 5A with a 6-3 win at Kirkby Crocs.

University C clinched the 5A title, beating Beeston Fields B 5-4 and Woodthorpe 7-2, Andy Simpkins and Ralph Cooper notching a maximum in both.

Forest pushed Crusader nearer the drop in Ladies Premier, Lorraine Buck and Ellen Houseley undefeated in a 7-2 win, Mansfield Oaktree B getting a 7-2 win at Sherwood Mount.

Rivals Are Set For A Title Showdown
19th March 2003

Both leading contenders for the Premier Mixed title in the Nottingham & District League scored comfortable 8-1 victories. Bingham beat Byron and West Bridgford defeated Forest A to set up a grand finale when the two clubs meet.

Meanwhile, Mansfield Oaktree maintained their progress in Division One with a 7-2 success at University Hospital. Phoenixwood B recorded their first win in 2A by beating Boots 6-3. But Boots fared better with a 5-4 win over Southwell Centre in 3A, Neil Roberts and Hannah Daykin scoring three for the visitors. Steve Wilks and Jane Rudge did the same for Old Crows at Adbolton Gedling in 3B, but they went down 5-4.

Adbolton then succumbed 5-4 at Bingham D with Colin Leach and Brenda Wells taking three for Adbolton, followed by a marathon match of eight three-setters against Phoenixwood D. Adbolton won six of them to emerge with a 7-2 success.

Steve and Kay Eade registered a maximum to guide Boots B to a 5-4 victory at Rushcliffe Arena. University C clinched the 5C title in style, with 9-0 wins over East Leake and Old Crows B.

Mansfield Oaktree B remain unbeaten with a 6-3 win at David Lloyd Aspley in 6B, Eric Tan and Joan Morley being undefeated for Adbolton Gedling B but saw their team go down 5-4 at University Hospital C in 6B.

University preserved their Premier Mens status by beating Beauvale 5-4, S Margolis and S Docherty taking three rubbers, all in three sets.

Jon Siddons and Ben Sanders took three for Beeston Fields in 2A, but went down 5-4 to David Lloyd WB, while Boots continued their march in 2B beating Beeston Valley 6-3.  Graeme Wallace and Andy Perry scored all Beeston Valley’s rubbers.

Dave Eatherington and Kevin Brownhill's maximum anchored David Lloyd Aspley's 5-4 win over Nottm Vets in 4B, Beeston Valley A ensuring promotion from this division by beating Radcliffe Knights 8-1.

T Allan and D Rouse registered a maximum to lead East Leake to a 5-4 win at Beeston Fields B in 5B, whilst Andy Simpkins and Ralph Cooper were undefeated as University C go to the top of this division with a 6-3 win over Woodborough A.

University also make their position safe in Ladies Division One with a 5-4 win at Old Crows, University going down 5-4 to Bingham B in 2A despite J Sykes and A Williams being undefeated.

Nottm Vets celebrated winning this division with a 9-0 whitewash against Bingham B, Carlton Forum maintained their challenge in 2B with a 6-3 win over Beeston Valley, Nicola Hubbard and Alison Owen being undefeated.

Bingham Undefeated
12th March 2003

Bingham retained their unbeaten record with a 9-0 whitewash of West Bridgford A.

In a Division One relegation battle, Dave Hargreaves and Jenny Abbott scored all Nottm Vets rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Phoenixwood.

But Mansfield Oaktree marched on with a 6-3 win at South Normanton, Dale Twigger and Rebecca Street taking three.

In 2A, Redhill A overcame South Normanton A 8-1, while Boots edged out Carlton Forum 5-4 with three from Chris Page and Frances Fox.

University B staked their claim for promotion in 2B with a 7-2 win over Crusader. Tim Eaton and Anita Powell were unbeaten, as were Simon Nolan and Linda Bremner for Rushcliffe Arena in a 5-4 win against Old Crows in 3A.

Ken Richardson and Marie Winfield carried Nottm Vets B to a 7-2 win over Radcliffe Knights, while Chris Newton and Erica Gregory were unbeaten in Byron B's 6-3 success against Lowdham in 4B.

Woodthorpe suffered their first defeat in 5A, going down 5-4 at Carlton after seven three-setters. Andy Morell and Clare Anderson registered a maximum as St Giles pipped Rushcliffe Arena B 5-4.

Steve and Hannah Daykin's maximum was to no avail as Southwell Centre lost out to Radcliffe Knights in 6A. Kirkby Crocs B notched up two wins, 7-2 at Rushcliffe Arena D and 6-3 at home to Trent University Staff, Hoony Li and Debs Paul scoring all the Staffs' rubbers.

Mansfield Oaktree's 6-3 win at Long Eaton gave their men's Premier hopes a boost, Dale Twigger and N Johnson being undefeated, whilst Redhill ensured their Division One status with two 6-3 victories against Bingham A and University A.

Beeston Fields A scored their first win in 3A by 7-2 over Crusader, whilst Adbolton Gedling notched their only win in 3B in their last match, 6-3 against Boots A.

Simon Martel and James Capel were undefeated for Beeston Valley B in a 6-3 win against St Giles A in 5A. A Simpkins and R Cooper's maximum leading University to a 6-3 win at East Leake A in 5B.

Alison Williams and Anita Powell's three rubbers took University A to a 7-2 win at Rushcliffe Arena in 2A.

Byron Cut Oaktree Down To Size
5th March 2003

Matt and Robert Adcock scored three to anchor Byron's 5-4 win at Mansfield Oaktree and secure their Premier status.

But Forest went down 7-2 to Bingham, Andy Cockayne and Scott Terry registering a maximum.

The two Chris’s, Asher and Johnson, were undefeated as Bingham maintain their unbeaten record in Division One with a win over University A 6-3, while Chris Newton and Phil Gregory's maximum guided Byron to a 6-3 win over Carlton Forum in 2A.

Rolls Royce Derby clinched the 3A title with a convincing 9-0 score line against Carlton. John Carroll’s 6-3 win at University Hospital clinched the 5A title, while H Stanley and A Finlay scored all Beeston Valley C's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Phoenixwood C in 5B.

Mansfield Oaktree notch up two victories in Division One Mixed, beating Nottingham Vets 5-4 - Dave Hargreaves and Jenny Abbott taking three - and following up with a 6-3 win over Phoenixwood.

Phoenixwood C also lost 6-3 to Bingham C in 2A, Dave Turton and Fran Sawyer scoring all the home side's rubbers. Beeston Fields A had a 6-3 win at Nottingham Vets A in 3A with a maximum from Paul Gray and Rebecca Emerton. Rebecca was again in evidence, this time with Geoff Davison, in the 5-4 win at Nottingham Vets B in 4A. Redhill C ensured promotion from 5C with a 7-2 win at East Leake, where Sam Murphy and Jackie Thompson were undefeated.

Trent University Staff clinched promotion from 6A. Richard Morton and Pat Davison scored a maximum for Phoenixwood G as they went down 5-4 to Gotham in 6A. Nick Harman and Rosemary Horn scored all Woodborough B's rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Redhill D in 7A.

West Bridgford clinched the Premier Ladies' title with a 7-2 success at Bingham A who bounced back to take a 6-3 victory.

University Clinch Promotion From Division One Mixed
22nd February 2003

University's 6-3 win at University Hospital with three rubbers from Sam Margollis and Lucy Heddon, clinched promotion from Division One Mixed.

Giles Nursey and Victoria Holmes scored all David Lloyd's rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Nottingham Vets A in Div 3A, while Ha Le Vinh and Andrea Colton's maximum led Adbolton Gedling to a 7-2 win against Rushcliffe Arena in 3B.

Ash Mir and Jackui Dennis were unbeaten for Boots against Woodborough, while Sam Murphy and Jackie Thompson anchored Redhill to a 7-2 win at Old Crows.

Six three-setters were needed before Phoenixwood beat University 6-3 in Men's Division One. Mel Bullock and Julian Bosley took three for the visitors.

Carlton Forum consolidated top spot in 2A with 8-1 victories over John Carroll and Beeston Fields.

Woodthorpe took over top spot in 5B with a 7-2 win over Beeston Fields B, A Beers and P Huxley doing well.

Phoenixwood did their chances of avoiding relegation no harm by beating Mansfield Oaktree 7-2. Kate Mlller and Debble Trow were undefeated.

Lisa Straw and Pauline Adams were unbeaten to lead Redhill A to a 6-3 win against Phoenixwood C in 3B.

Beeston Fields On Track For Division One
15th February 2003

Beeston Fields need just one more win to secure the Division 2A Mixed title, after victories over Mansfield Oaktree A and University B. Jonathon Siddons and Lynn Davison were unbeaten in 6-3 and 9-0 wins.

In Division One, Dave Hargreaves and Jenny Abbott were undefeated to lead Notts Vets to a 6-3 win over South Normanton.

Crusader gained their first win in 2B, Duncan Purves and Jane Marston recording a maximum in a 5-4 score line at Mansfield Oaktree A. Mansfield also went down 6-3 at Beeston Valley, Andy Perry and Louise Finlay registering a maximum.  

Boots A took over top spot in 3A with an 8-1 success at Rushcliffe Arena A, while Steve Saicer and Gail Weaver were unbeaten for Beeston Fields C in their 6-3 win over East Leake A in 6A.

East Leake bounced back to defeat Southwell Centre A 5-4, anchored by a maximum from Peter Morley and Ann Cage.

Neil Hammacott and Sophie Pyne were unbeaten for Beeston Valley B, but saw their team go down 5-4 at Southwell Centre A.

Trent University Staff A gained their first win in 7B, 5-4 against Rushcliffe Arena, Hoony Li and Debs Paul conceding only 27 points in their three rubbers.  But the team went down 7-2 at Kirkby Crocodiles.

Beauvale A completed their fixtures in Mens 2A with a 5-4 win at Beeston Fields, Dave Hargreaves and Michael Johnson taking a maximum.

Andy Bennett and John Gladish were unbeaten in Bingham C's first win, 7-2 over Carlton Forum A in 2B.

Crusader also notched their first win in 3A, Vince Handley and Andy Cairns being undefeated in a 5-4 victory over Sherwood Mount.

I Richardson and C Gregory were undefeated as Byron B defeated Woodborough 5-4 in 4A and Steve Mallory and Phil Wiltshire scored all the David Lloyd WB A rubbers in their 6-3 loss at East Leake.

Phoenixwood A beat Beeston Fields 5-4 to take the Division One ladies title.

Carlton Have A Forum For Success

Carlton Forum have enjoyed a good run in the NBA Leagues.  The men's first team in 2A defeated Beauvale A 7-2, with Stephen Smith and Greg Thomas taking three, while the Men's B in 3A overcame Crusader 7-2 and should now gain promotion.

The only blot on the copybook was the Ladies first team going down 5-4 to Redhill in 2B, but they recovered with a 7-2 win at Adbolton Gedling, A Newman and N Russell undefeated.  That was followed by a 9-0 win at Byron B to retain second place in the table.

Forest gained their first win in Premier Mixed by beating West Bridgford A 6- 3, John Cooper and Anna Skrobacz scoring all Bridgford's rubbers - all in three sets.

Redhill's Lee Jackson and Karen Buttery recording a maximum at Byron but saw their team go down 5-4.

Paul Grimley and Val Richmond's three rubbers guided Bingham D to their first win in 3B, 6-3 against Old Crows.

Beeston Valley A remain unbeaten in 4A after a 9-0 win at Radcliffe Knights.

Redhill B ensured promotion from 4B by beating University Hospital A 8-1.

Kirkby Crocs maintain their challenge in 7Aafter they moved into second spot following a 7-2 win over Woodborough B.

Bingham's 8-1 win over Mansfield Oaktree keeps them on course for a showdown with West Bridgford for the Premier Men's title.

Rolls Royce Derby maintained their unbeaten record in the Notts League with a 9-0 victory over Nottingham Vets in 3A.

Dave Ellingham and Kev Tantum were undefeated as Redhill B defeated Rushcliffe Arena 5-4 in 4A.

Six three-setters were needed before Byron C emerged with a 5-4 win at David Lloyd Aspley A in a Division 6A encounter.

Nottingham Vets are making a determined bid to regain their Ladies Division status, a 9-0 win over Sherwood Mount and 8-1 against Rushcliffe Arena taking them clear at the top of division 2A.

Beauvale Move Closer To Safety
29th January 2003

Beauvale took a step nearer safety in the Premier Men's division with a 7-2 win over Long Eaton, who are candidates for the drop.  Young stars Mark Ross and Peter Mills provided the inspiration with an undefeated maximum.

Redhill recorded their first win in Division One, 6-3 at Bingham B, while Carlton Forum A notched a 5-4 win over Mansfield Oaktree A, anchored by three rubbers from the two Ians, Marshall and Quinton.

Martin Tilling and Carl Truong's three rubbers helped Carlton to a 6-3 win over Crusader in 3A and C Leach and C Lamb scored all Adbolton Gedling rubbers to a 3-6 loss to Old Crows in 3B.

John Clayton and Joe Ames were unbeaten in Radcliffe Knights' 5-4 win over Phoenixwood B.  Roger Moor and Dave Jones took three but Boots A went down 4-5 at Old Crows.

Darren Darvell and Jim Hughes registered a maximum in both University Hospital A victories (7-2 against Beeston Valley B and 6-3 at Trent University Staff). Kirkby Crocs moved into second place by beating St Giles A 7-2, Paul Holmes and John Gray being undefeated.

Lee Jackson and Karen Buttery took Redhill to a 5-4 win over Bingham A to improve their chances of staying in the Premier Division.

South Normanton A took over top spot in 2A, Steve Hinchcliffe and Susan Gerrett, registering a maximum in their 7-2 win over Phoenixwood B.  Beeston Fields moved to the top of 2B by defeating Crusader 6-3, despite having to give best to Duncan Purves and Jane Marston, who scored all Crusaders' rubbers. Redhill C kept the pressure on the leaders in 5A with a 7-2 success at St Giles, Neil Townsend and Lisa Crouch notching a maximum.  Martin Withers took David Lloyd WB A to a 6-3 win over Adbolton Gedling B to extend their lead at the top of 6B.

West Bridgford's 8-1 victory at Phoenixwood puts them within an ace of taking the Ladies Premier title for the fifth successive season, as Beeston Fields making a late start to their season, opened with two 7-2 wins, Nikki Weaver and Kerry Gibson being undefeated against both Old Crows and University Hospital.

Beeston Valley came back into the reckoning in 2B with a 9-0 win over Boots, but then crashed to a 7-2 loss at Redhill, who had Karen Buttery and Lee Truong unbeaten. Two 7-2 victories by David Lloyd WB against Woodborough and David Lloyd Aspley moves them into second place in 3A.

Oaktree Start The Road Back

Mansfield Oaktree, strengthened by the acquisition of Dave Twigger, made a late start to their Division One mixed program with a fine 7-2 victory at Phoenixwood A, and will be making a concerted effort to regain their Premier status.

Two 8-1 wins by Redhill A against Carlton Forum and Boots, has boosted them to the top of Division 2A.

Beeston Valley recovered from an opening loss to defeat Crusader 6-3 in 2D with a maximum from Graeme Wallace and Alison Bexon.

In 4A, Grayson Clarke and Kate Mellors' three rubbers anchored Phoenixwood's 5-4 win at Beeston Fields B. Beeston Fields bounced back to beat Boots 6-3. Steve Spicer and Eileen Girvan were undefeated, as were Ian Thompson and Jane Steventon for Carlton Forum A in 4B. But they saw their team go down 5-4 to visitors Lowdham. University C extended their lead in 5B with two victories. A 9-0 over Woodborough A was followed by a 6-3 success at Rushcliffe Arena B with Tim Eaton and Helen Woodham notching a maximum.

Beeston Valley B edged to a 5-4 win at East Leake A in 6A, James Capel and Sophie Pyne getting a maximum.

G Weir and A Gilchrist were undefeated for West Bridgford A against old rivals Forest A in Men's Division One, but Forest A took the match 5-4.

Beauvale A kept the pressure on the leaders in 2B, Mick Johnson and Dave Hargreaves registering a maximum in their 6-3 win at David Lloyd WB.

Beeston Fields stayed in the picture in this division, with A Gordon-Staples and D Sanders unbeaten in their 7-2 win at Redhill.

R Burrows and J Burton were undefeated in University Staff's 5-4 win at Woodborough in 4A, while Brian West and birthday boy Tom Allan took the honours with a maximum in East Leake's 7-2 defeat of Nottingham Veterans A in 4B.

Mike Brocks and John Lay conceded only 16 points in their three rubbers for Kirkby Crocodiles A against Beauvale D in 6A, but Beauvale escaped with a 5-4 verdict.

Byron C opened their account in this division with a 6-3 win at David Lloyd WB B with Steve May and Simon Evans unbeaten.

Phoenixwood A went to the top of Ladies Division One by beating University Hospital 5-4, despite having to give best to the home side’s Julie Peart and Lindsey Hill.

Bingham B opened their account in 2A with a 6-3 win at Rushcliffe Arena. Arena A also went down 6-3 at Woodborough in 3A, Woodborough's Ruth Pennick and Joan Hickling recording a maximum.

Beeston Fields A moved into second place in 3B, by beating Trent University Staff 5-4, but were unable to topple Staff's Debs Phil and Kate Lyon, who were unbeaten. Adbolton Gedling A lead this division, three 7-2 victories coming against Trent University Staff, Phoenixwood C and Byron A. Lyon Whiting and Brenda Wells took three rubbers in all three matches.

Byron Are Put To The Sword

West Bridgford continued their dominance of the Mixed Premier Division with their third victory of the season, this time, 7-2 against Byron.

But Bingham are still hot on their heels after a 5-4 win at Forest, despite the efforts of Mike Storey and Lorraine Buck, who scored three for the losers.

South Normanton A had mixed fortunes in 2A, winning 8-1 at Byron A but then went down 5- 4 at University A who had Sam Marcolis and Lucy Heddon undefeated.

University B also gained a 5-4 win in 2B, Ross Geary and Catherine Hardwick taking the honours with a maximum in a match of six three-setters against Mansfield Oaktree A.

T Lord and P Davidson were undefeated in Phoenixwood D's first win of the season against Boots B in 3B. Rushcliffe Arena C moved into contention in 5A with a 6-3 success at Phoenixwood F, Michael Johnson and Alison Goodall recording a maximum.          

Rushcliffe Arena A's Steve Barton and Hilary Pollard also took three rubbers in a 6-3 victory at East Leake in 5A where five rubbers went to three sets.

Dave Martin and Janet Folkes scored all Beeston Fields C's rubbers in a 6-3 loss at Trent University Staff in 6A, while Paul Holmes and Pat Betts were undefeated for Kirkby Crocodiles B but saw their team go down 5-4 to Woodthorpe A in 7B.

Bingham A extended their undefeated run in Mens One, Tony Gleave and Paul Simpson unbeaten to anchor a 5-4 triumph at Forest A to head the table.

Chris Newton and Phil Gregory registered a maximum to guide Byron A to a 6-3 win over Beauvale A which, coupled with a 9-0 win against John Carroll, takes them to the top of 2A.

Ian Manchester and Grayson Clare notched a maximum for Phoenixwood B in a 6-3 win against Adbolton Gedling in 3B as University B extended their lead with two 6-3 wins, against Boots A and St Giles.

Noon Li and Graham Impey were undefeated as Trent University Staff record a 5-4 win at St Giles A in 5A, as were P Jones and G Singh for John Carroll A in their 5-4 win over Beeston Valley B in the same division.

Steve Aram and Nick Harman's three rubbers were of no avail, Woodborough A losing out 5-4 at Woodthorpe in 6A.

Byron Starting To Make A Mark
7th December 2002

Byron, looking to make their mark in Premier Mixed, beat Forest A 9-0, followed by a narrow 5-4 verdict against Bingham A, Robert Adcock and Ruth Colman taking the honours with a maximum.  

University surged to the top of Division One with four victories.  Bingham B, South Normanton, Phoenixwood and Phoenixwood A had no answer to Ian Stockford and Catherine Frost who took maximums in all four matches.  

Chris Parrott and Ros Tuffney helped Carlton to a 7-2 win at Rushcliffe Arena A in 3A, Arena also going down 6-3 at Nottm Vets with three from Stewart Robey and Maria Winfield.  

Redhill B took the lead in 4B, defeating Old Crows 7-2 and Carlton Forum 8-1, Carl Storey and Lynn White registering maximums.  

Carlton A move ahead in 5A, John Gibson and Liz Pritchett being undefeated in a 7-2 win over Sherwood Mount.  Dave Martin and Catherine Albert's maximum were of no avail as Beeston Fields went down 5-4 at Radcliffe Knights.

Forest overcame Long Eaton 6-3 to put their first win on the board in Mens Premier.  In Division 1, Manik Chakaavarti and Joe Mitchell led Bingham B to a 6-3 win over West Bridgford A.  

In Division 2B, Mansfield Oaktree had Chris Smith and Steve Pincott taking three rubbers against South Normanton.  

Radcliffe Knights took the lead in 3B with a 5-4 win against Old Crows, John Clayton and Joe Ames notching a maximum.  

Michael Johnson and Keith Wallace were undefeated but saw Rushcliffe Arena go down 5-4 to Woodborough in 4A.  

There were two matches in the Ladies section.  Crusader pipped Mansfield Oaktree 5-4, while Phoenixwood C lost 7-2 to Trent University Staff.

Redhill Edging Towards Safety
30th November 2002

Redhill took the first step toward Mixed Premier safety by defeating Forest 5-4.  Redhill won all four three-set rubbers, but they could not hold potential champions West Bridgford, going down 9-0.

John England and Debbie Trow starred for Phoenixwood in 2A, but their team still lost 5-4 at Carlton Forum.

Southwell Centre had two 5-4 successes in 3A, Chris Royle and Annabelle Hitchings anchoring the win over Nottingham Vets with a maximum and also taking the verdict at Beeston Fields.  But they were unable to topple the excellent pairing of Ben Sanders and Janet Pickering.

Phoenixwood E took top spot in 4A by beating Boots 7-2. Trevor Lang and Julie Matthews were undefeated, as were Mark Haines and Beth Briumblecombe for University C in their 5-4 win over Redhill.

Meanwhile, Mark Ryder and Paul Archer scored all David Lloyd Aspley's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Redhill D in 7A.

Forest A's third win of the season takes them into second place in Division One Mens, with Robert and Julian Dumelow unbeaten in their 5-4 win against Redhill.

Phoenixwood beat Bingham B 7-2, but Bingham gained revenge as their A team beat the same opposition 6-3.  Paul Simpson and Tony Gleave conceded only 34 points in their undefeated maximum.

Phil Gregory and Chris Newton helped Byron A to a 5-4 win at David Lloyd WB.  John Carroll scored two wins to go top of 5A, P Jones and G Singh taking three rubbers in both the 7-2 success against Rushcliffe Arena A and the 5-4 over Trent University Staff.


Hospital Hit Back To Win
23rd November 2002

University Hospital recovered from an opening defeat in Division 1 Mixed to overcome Bingham B 5-4. But they were unable to topple Tony Gleave and Chris Stephenson.

The University Hospital B team went down 6- 3 to Boots, with Moore and Buckland taking three rubbers, all in three sets.

Mike Casemore and Fran Sawyer scored three for Phoenixwood D but saw their team go down 5-4 to Rushcliffe Arena.

Jon Apedaile and Carolyn Need's maximum led Sherwood Mount A to a 5-4 win at Nottingham Veterans.

Carlton A went top of the division with two wins, 9-0 against Phoenixwood F and 6-3 at Rushcliffe Arena C. Michael Johnson and Pam Wallace scored all Rushcliffe Arena's rubbers.

Trent University Staff took the lead in 6A by beating Beeston Valley B 7-2, Terry Hall and Yvette Mann taking a maximum.

Brian Mallinder and Margaret Pemblington's three guided Kirkby Crocodiles to a 6-3 win over St Giles in 7A. S Aram and J Vryenhoef were unbeaten for Woodborough B in their 7-2 success against Boots D.

John Gladish and Jason Hingley registered three for Bingham B in Division 1 Mens, but saw their team go down 5-4 at University A.

Carlton Forum opened their account in 2A with a 7-2 victory at Redhill A, Andy Tyas and Mick Nettleton notching a maximum.

Cyril Martin and Dave Adams' three rubbers anchored Nottingham Veterans 5-4 win over Carlton in 3A, but then went down 3-6 to Carlton Forum with Darren Day and James Hand undefeated.

Two victories from Beauvale B brought them back into contention in 4A, a 6-3 win at University Staff being followed by a 9-0 triumph at Carlton.

S Barnes and D Darvill were unbeaten for University Hospital A in their 5-4 defeat of Rushcliffe Arena, as were D Marshall and P Flewitt in Woodthorpe's 7-2 win at Beeston Valley.

Julie Peart and Lindsey Hill scored all University Hospital's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at South Normanton in Ladies Division 1. Beth Brimblecombe and Anne Hill were undefeated for University A in their 7-2 success at Phoenixwood B.

Nottingham Veterans A had no answer to the skills of David Lloyd WB's Krissi Koslinki and Ruth Forman, who were unbeaten. But the Veterans won 6-3.



University Have The Edge
16th November 2002

University edged 5-4 victories in two tight matches in the Mens' Premier.  Pete Gooden and James Gilham took three rubbers in the match against Forest, from a total points score of 248-249.  That was followed by a win at Long Eaton, with three rubbers from Sam Margolis and Ian Stockford, totalling 249 points each.

In the other Premier Mens match, K Roebuck and S Higgins were undefeated for West Bridgford in a 7-2 win at Byron, while in Division One Forest A beat University A 7-2.

Paul Simpson and Joe Mitchell anchored Bingham A's 6-3 win at West Bridgford A with an undefeated maximum.

Grayson Clare and Ian Manchester took all Phoenixwood B's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Old Crows in 3B.

J Atkinson and D Rouse registered a maximum to guide East Leake to a 6-3 success at David Lloyd Aspley in 4B.

Trent University Staff's 7-2 triumph at Rushcliffe Arena was highlighted by a maximum from Hoony Li and G Impey, while in the battle of the David Lloyds in 6A West Bridgford B came away from Aspley A with a 5-4 victory, M. Hollingworth and B Whyell undefeated.

Dave Hargreaves and Jenny Abbott's maximum was to no avail in Division One Mixed, as Nottingham Vets went down 5-4 at University.

Phoenixwood took a 5-4 verdict against Univ Hospital, Julian Bosley and Angie Columbine being unbeaten.

Sam Margolis and Emma France scored all University A's rubbers in a 3-6 home defeat by Redhill A in 2A, but bounced back to beat Phoenixwood B 5-4.

Ben Sanders and Janet Pickering were unbeaten as Beeston Fields A gained a 6-3 win over David Lloyd in 3A.

Steve Kirby and Margaret Green scored all Byron B's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Redhill B in 4B, while John Atkinson and Barbara West starred in East Leake's 5-4 win at Old Crows B in 5B.

S Barton and M Lewis were unbeaten for Rushcliffe Arena D in their 5-4 victory over Woodthorpe A in 7B.

Jane Tarrant and Ellen Housley led Forest to a 6-3 win at Bingham A.



Reserves Shock Forest First Team
8th November 2002 

The first shock of the season came in the Mixed Premier where Forest's reserve team, Forest A, beat the first team 5-4, despite an unbeaten maximum from Adam and Lorraine Buck.

Bingham's clash with Bingham A was truer to form, with a 9-0 win for the first team.

In Division One, Phoenixwood opened with a 6-3 success against their A team, followed by the same score against South Normanton.

Ash Mir and Sally Moore's maximum led Boots A to a 7-2 win at Beeston Fields A in 3A, as did Shaun Oppal and Helen Bullock for Phoenixwood E against Radcliffe in 4A.

Carlton Forum A opened with a 6-3 win at Old Crows A in 4B.

In 6A, Joe Ames and Mandira Chakravarti scored three rubbers but saw their team, Radcliffe Knights A, go down 5-4 at Beeston Valley B.

In the same division, undefeated P Mills and H Daykin led Southwell Centre A to a 5-4 win over Beeston Fields C.

Beauvale A opened with a flourish in Mens 2A to defeat Redhill A 6-3, while Carlton Forum B gained a 7-2 success over Beeston Fields A in 3A.

In 3B, St Giles went down 7-2 at newly promoted Radcliffe Knights, but bounced back to defeat Boots A by the same score, John Jackson and Rick Banks undefeated.

Byron B overcame Beauvale B by 7-2 in 4A, anchored by three rubbers from Ian Richardson and Simon Campbell, while a maximum from J White and M Foster guided Redhill B to a 5-4 win at Woodborough.

Neil Roberts and John Scott were unbeaten for Southwell in their 5-4 win over Nottingham Vets A in 4B. N Durrow and D Weedon notched a maximum in 6A as Beauvale C overcame Beauvale D by 6-3.

West Bridgford opened the defence of their Premier Ladies title with an 8-1 victory over Mansfield Oaktree.

Andrea Colton and Norma Glover recorded a maximum as Adbolton Gedling gained 5-4 victory at Redhill in 2A, but then went down by the same score at Byron.
