Amazing 14-Year Reign Over At Last
15 April 2004

Bingham 1 ended West Bridgford's 14-year grip at the top of the Premier Men's Division when they romped to a 9-0 win over Forest 1 to take the championship.

Matt Adcock and Steven Gregory were undefeated as Byron 1 registered a 7-2 win at Bingham 2, 7-2.

That score line was repeated as Beauvale 1's relegation was confirmed with defeat to Forest 1.

Bingham 3 were relegated from Division One after another 7-2 defeat to Byron 2.

Ken Tantum and Michael Foster battled hard for their maximum - all in three sets.  But they saw their team Redhill 2 lose out 5-4 at Radcliffe Knights 1 in a match of six three-setters in 2B, Knights then losing 7-2 to Adbolton Crows 1 to be relegated.

University Hospital 1's 8-1 win over University Staff moved them up into second place in 3A.

John Carroll 1 made sure of the 3B championship with an 8-1 success over Beeston Valley 2, while six three-setters were needed to settle the Carlton Forum 3 v Beeston Valley 2 encounter 6-3 in Forum's favour.

Chris Royle and Steve Daykin scored all Southwell Centre's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at home to Rushcliffe Arena 1 in 4B and were also on the wrong end of a 5-4 score line at relegated Sherwood Mount, despite a maximum from Tom Morley and Kristian Gaylard.

David Lloyd WB 1 completed their programme in style by beating Boots 3 9-0 to take the 3A Mixed title.  Woodborough 1's 7-2 1oss to Adbolton Crows 2 condemned them to relegation from 3B.

Andy Ballard and Joan Miller were undefeated in Lowdham's 5-4 victory at Adbolton Crows 4, but go down together from 4A, Carlton Forum 2 taking the 4B title following seven three-setters in a 6-3 win at Redhill 4.

St Giles 2 scored the only win of the season against Woodthorpe 2, 8-1, but could not avoid relegation from 6B.

Byron 4 took the 7A title after beating Gotham 9-0 and John Carroll finished runners-up in 7B despite losing their final match 6-3 to Boots 5.

West Bridgford took the Premier Ladies title once again after winning 6-3 at Phoenixwood 1.  Beeston Fields 1's 9-0 success against University Hospital took them into second place in Division One.

Denise Lewis and Erica Gregory's three rubbers were to no avail as Byron 1 lost 5-4 at Redhill 2 and also lost their place in 2B.  Sindy Midha and Jane Kenny conceded only 13 points in their three rubbers, as David Lloyd Aspley defeated runners-up East Leake 7-2 in 3A.  Southwell Centre clinched the 3A title with a 6-3 triumph against Boots 2.  Annabelle Hutchings and Hannah Daykin were unbeaten.

Bingham Take Championship

Bingham 3 clinched the Division One mixed championship in the Nottingham League with a 6-3 victory at Phoenixwood 2.

John Gladish and Elaine Mercer were undefeated. The bad news is that the Bingham second team cannot be promoted now.

In the Premier Division, University 1 had a comprehensive 9-0 win at Byron 1 to take second spot.

Byron 1 bounced back to defeat Forest 2 5-4, with Robert Adcock and Debbie Whitmore unbeaten.

Boots 1 took the 2A title in style with an 8-1 success at Southwell Centre 1. Phoenixwood 4's 6-3 win at Beeston Valley 2 - John England and Pam Hamilton recording a maximum - moves them into the promotion spot in 3A.

Mark Ryder and Jane Kenny scored a maximum in David Lloyd Aspley 1's 6-3 triumph over Boots 4 to take the 5B title.

John Carroll's 7-2 win against Byron 5 takes them within touching distance of the 7B title.

Pete Gooden and Ross Geary were unbeaten to lead University 1 to a 6-3 win at Forest 2 and Premier Division safety, while Redhill 1's 8-1 win at Phoenixwood 1 takes them into the Premier in second place in Division 1.

Long Eaton's hopes of promotion were sunk with a 3-6 loss at Byron 2.

Andy Morrell and Raj Midha were undefeated to guide Nottm Vets 1 to a 5-4 victory over Carlton 1 in 3A, Univ Hospital keeping their promotion hopes alive in this division with a 5-4 win at Beeston Fields 2. Dave Hall and Garry Warman were unbeaten.

Byron 4 clinched the 5A title by beating Nottm Vets 2 8-1, Beeston Valley 3 edging into second place by winning 5-4 at Rushcliffe Arena 2 and 8-1 at Univ Hospital 2.

Martin Royle and Steve Anderson anchored Boots 3's 6-3 win at Woodborough 2 to take second spot in 5B, East Leake 2 taking first place with a 5-4 win at Woodborough 2, Barry Read and Kevin Richardson notching a maximum.

Paula Wilson and Karen Cleave were undefeated in Bingham 1's 6-3 win in Ladies Premier and put a dent in Phoenixwood 1's hopes of attaining second place.

Adbolton Crow 1's 5-3 victory against Phoenixwood 3 puts them in top spot in 2A. The 3B title goes to Rushcliffe Arena 1 by beating Carlton Forum 2 7-2. Runners-up, Kirkby Crocodiles 1, won 9-0 at Carlton.

Katie Roberts and Eileen Griffin's unbeaten three rubbers was of no avail as Kirkby Crocs 2 were pipped 5-4 at Byron 2 in 4A.

Bridgford Can Start The Celebrations

Pete Gooden and Jo Richens scored a maximum to lead University 1 to a 5-4 win at Bingham 1 in the Premier Mixed.

But West Bridgford 1's 8-1 success against Redhill 1 gives them the title again - with one match to play.

Beeston Fields 1 improved their chances of avoiding relegation from Division 1 by beating title-contenders Bingham 2 6-3. Ben Sanders and Debbie Holmes got three. But they went down 5-4 to West Bridgford 2. Simon Bassett and Sarah Pulley were unbeaten.

Bridgford 2 then lost 5-4 at potential champions Bingham 3.

Mick Nettleton and Nicola Hubbard scored all Carlton Forum 1's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Boots 1 in 2A. Boots need one more win to take the title.

David Lloyd WB 1 remain unbeaten in 3A after an 8-1 win at Nottm Vets 3.

Redhill 3 clinched the 3A title by defeating Woodborough 1 8-1. In 4A Phoenixwood 5's 7-2 win against University Hospital 2 should ensure promotion. A Henderson and J Mathews were unbeaten.

Promotion also beckons for Carlton Forum 2 in 4B after they beat Woodthorpe 1 9-0. Rushcliffe Arena 2 improve their chances of staying in this division with a 5-4 win over Adbolton Crows 3, Gary Pritchard and Alison McDonald recording a maximum.

Sherwood Mount stay in contention in 5A after an 8-1 success against Rushcliffe Arena 4, but Beeston Valley 3 stormed to the 6B championship with two big wins - 8-1 at Phoenixwood 1 and 9-0 against St Giles 2.

Martin Tilling and Can Truong registered a maximum for Carlton 1 in a 7-2 win over Byron 3 in Men's Div 3A, while John Carroll 1's 8-1 success at Phoenixwood 3 kept them in the race in 3B. Kirkby Crocs 1's 6-3 win against Boots keeps them in the lead in 4, while Neil Hammacott and James Capel were undefeated in Beeston Valley 3's 5-4 win against David Lloyd Aspley 1 in 5A. Martin Doyle and Steve Anderson were unbeaten for Boots 3 in their 5-4 win at Trent Univ Staff in 5B. Kirkby Crocs 2 clinching the 6A title by beating Beauvale 5 8-1.

Crusader Are Top Of The Tree

Crusader had plenty of reasons to thank Jon Orchard and Yvonne Jackson as the Division 2B Mixed title race went down to the wire.

The pair were undefeated in the 6-3 defeat of Boots 2, which was just enough to clinch the crown by one solitary rubber.

University 2 made a fight of it, beating Boots 2 6-3 and Beeston Valley 1 7-2.

Ross Geary and Louise Tar were unbeaten in both matches.

Toby Massey and Chris Stephenson were unbeaten in Bingham 3's 5-4 win at Redhill 2, in Division One. Southwell Centre 1 recorded their first win in 2A, Chris Royle and Annabelle Hutchings starring in a 5-4 success against Nottm Vets 2. But they went down 5-4 to University Hospital 2, Dave Hall and Helen Li scoring a maximum.

Colin Leach and Joan Morley took three rubbers for Adbolton Crows in 2B, but saw their team go down 5-4 to Beeston Valley 1. Phoenixwood 4 maintained their challenge in 3A, John England and Pam Hamilton being unbeaten in their 6-3 win at Carlton 1.

Phoenixwood 3 are assured of at least promotion following their 8-1 triumph at Woodborough 1 in 3B. Phoenixwood 5 achieving the same score to stay in contention in 4A by defeating St Giles 1, who also lost 5-4 at home to Lowdham, whose Richard Lambert and Shirley Stephenson notched a maximum.

A 7-2 win at Rushcliffe Arena and 5-4 at Trent University Staff clinched the 5A title for East Leake 1, John Atkinson and Gill Rogerson taking a maximum in both matches. Boots 4 kept their promotion hopes alive in 5B by winning 7-2 at Beeston Fields 4.

In 6B, Beeston Valley 3 had Neil Hammacott and Louise Finlay unbeaten in a 6-3 win at Rushcliffe Arena 5. Graydon Peacock and Gill Jackson's maximum was to no avail as St Giles 2 lost out 5-4 at Woodborough 3.

University 3 suffered two defeats to finish bottom of Mens 2A, going down 9-0 to Beeston Fields 1 and 6-3 to Carlton Forum 1. But the gloom was lifted by the second team winning 7-2 at Redhill 2 to take the 2B title.

John Carroll 2 should finish at least runners-up in 4A by beating Redhill 3 8-1. East Leake 3 took second spot in 6A with a 7-2 win over St Giles 2. Tom Allan and Martin Edwards were undefeated.

Toni Favill and Rebecca Street, were unbeaten for Mansfield Oaktree in Ladies Division One, but saw their team go down 5-4 to visitors Redhill 1.

David Lloyd WB 1 notching a 7-2 win over University 2 in 2A, John Carroll defeating Kirkby Crocs 2 by 7-2, J Walker and A Wynter registering a maximum to stay in the frame in 4A.
 

Bridgford Forge Ahead
20 March 2004  

The big question in the Ladies Premier Division is will anybody topple West Bridgford?

They continued their domination of the league with a 7-2 win over University 1, with Sarah Pulley and Anne Roebuck unbeaten.

Surprise challengers Phoenixwood 1 could provide the answer after they remained unbeaten, Debbie Trow and Kate Miller recording a maximum in their 5-4 success over Bingham 2.

In 2A, Helen Brown and Elaine Mercer registered a maximum the hard way, all in three sets, but still saw Bingham 3 go down 5-4 to visitors Phoenixwood 3.

Sally Moors and Christine Darvill were unbeaten as Boots 1 gained a 7-2 victory at Adbolton Crows 2 in 2B.

West Bridgford stayed ahead in the title race in Premier Mixed after beating University 1 6-3.

Nottm Vets 1 won 5-4 against Phoenixwood 1, Dave Hargreaves and Jenny Abbott scoring a maximum, to stake their claim for promotion in Division One.

Leigh Day and Jean Long scored all Bingham 4's rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Beeston Valley 1 in 2B.

Radcliffe Knights 1 edged nearer to promotion in 4A. Jon Clayton and Val Thorpe were undefeated in a 7-2 win over Adbolton Crows 4.

Rob Bradbury and Rachel Pink notched a maximum in David Lloyd Aspley 1's 7-2 win over Rushcliffe Arena 3 to stay in contention in 5B.

Beeston Valley 3 are still unbeaten in 6B, Michael Stobbart and Louise Finlay's three rubbers leading them to a 7-2 win at Woodthorpe 2.

John Carroll scored a 6-3 win at Byron 5 in 7B, Ken Spencer and D Smith registering a maximum.

Two 5-4 victories for Forest 1 keeps them up with the leaders in the Men's Premier.

Adam Buck and Jason Smith took three rubbers in both matches - against University 1 and Bingham 2.

Beauvale 1 recorded their first win of the season by beating Bingham 2 5-4, but were unable to topple Mark Attewell and Chris Asher.

Mansfield Oaktree 1 are heading back to the top as Division One champions, a comprehensive 8-1 win over Redhill 1 completing their unbeaten run.

Boots Cement Second Place
10 March 2004

Boots 1 defeated Byron 2 9-0 to take a firm hold on second spot in Division 2A of the Mixed League.

They still have to play Carlton Forum 1, who are top, Stephen Smith and Alison Owen spearheading their 7-2 win over Beeston Fields 2.

West Bridgford 1 marched on in the Premier Division with an 8-1 win at Forest 1. University 2 beat Bingham 4 by the same score in 2B, to stay in the promotion race along with Crusader, who won 9-0 at Adbolton Crows 1.

University Hospital 2 suffered a surprise 3-6 defeat at Carlton 2 in 4A to lose their unbeaten record.

Carlton 2 gained their first win, while Phoenixwood 5 improved rubber average by beating Adbolton Crows 4 9-0.

Rob Bradbury and Rachael Pink took a maximum to lead David Lloyd Aspley 1 to a 6-3 win against Sherwood Mount 2.

Sherwood Mount bounced back to beat University Hospital 3 by the same score with a maximum coming from Peter Bearne and Carolyn Need, Redhill 5 staying on the leader's heels in 6A by beating East Leake 2 6-3.

The pressure is increasing at the top of Men's Division One, Redhill 1 gaining an 8-1 triumph at Bingham 3.

Leaders Mansfield Oaktree winning 5-4 at Phoenixwood 1, Mark Buttery and Dale Twigger taking three rubbers to remain unbeaten, while West Bridgford 2 - not completely out of the picture - squeezed a 5-4 win at Byron 2, I Whyld and S Bassett undefeated.

Carlton 1 upset Beeston Valley 1's hopes of the 3A title by winning 5-4 and keep themselves in the frame.

Beeston Valley bounced back to defeat University Hospital 1 7-2, Paul Bexon and Graeme Wallace unbeaten. The result should be enough for promotion.

In 4A, Kirkby Crocs remain unbeaten with a 7-2 victory over Woodborough 1.

E Cumming's maximum was to no avail as his team, Southwell Centre went down 5-4 at University 4 in 4B.

Beauvale 4's 5-4 win at University Hospital 2 keeps them safe in Division 5A, East Leake 2 staying unbeaten in 5B by winning 6-3 at Trent Univ Staff.

Kirkby Crocs 2's 8-1 success against Beeston Valley 4 guarantees them promotion from 6A, East Leake 3 staying on their heels with a 5-4 win at St Giles 2.

Vets On Course For Another Title
3 March 2004

Nottm Vets 1 retained their unbeaten record in Division One to become the new favourites for the Nottingham & District Ladies title.

Despite being unable to topple Jackie Thompson and Lisa Straw, their all-round strength pulled them through to a 5-4 victory at Redhill 1.

In the only other match played in the Ladies divisions, Judith Ho and Louise Tarbit were undefeated as University 2 beat Phoenixwood 3 5-4 in 2A.

Jason Smith and Vanessa Law recorded a maximum for Forest 2 in a 5-4 win at Mansfield Oaktree, to give them a fighting chance of avoiding relegation from the Premier Mixed. Nottm Vets' 7-2 win over Redhill 2 kept the pressure on the leaders in Division One.

East Leake 1 retained their unbeaten record in 5A with a 6-3 success against Sherwood Mount 1, while David Lloyd Aspley 1 got the better of their West Bridgford counterparts, Mark Ryder and Jane Kenny being unbeaten in a 5-4 win.

Kirkby Crocs continue to dominate 6A with a 9-0 triumph at Univ Staff which ensures promotion. Crocs went down 6-3 at Beeston Valley 3 in their final fixture, Valley's Michael Stobbart and Louise Finlay being undefeated. Phoenixwood 7 stay on the leader's heels after beating Rushcliffe Arena 5 7-2, Cyril Hall and Pat Davidson doing well.

R and S Brown were unbeaten for Boots 5 in their 6-4 win over John Carroll in 7B. Bingham 5 Men got their first win, Nigel Daniels and Leigh Day taking three - all in three sets.

Carlton Forum's hopes of the 2A title were dashed with a 7-2 loss at David Lloyd WB 1. Mike and Chris Olivey were undefeated as University 2 overcame Radcliffe Knights 1 6-3 in 2B.

University Are In The Running
25 February 2004

University 1 are making a late run for the Premier Mixed title in the NBA League, maintaining their unbeaten record with a 9-0 success over Redhill 1.

It was followed by a closer 5-4 scoreline against Forest 2, Sam Margolis and Jon Richens being undefeated.

West Bridgford 1, having played fewer matches, march on after beating Bingham 1 6-3.

In Division One, Mel Bullock and Helen Wardle's maximum led Phoenixwood 1 to a 6-3 win over Beeston Fields 1, Carlton Forum 1 staying in the race for the 2A title, Stephen Smith and Alison Owen being unbeaten in a 6-3 win at University Hospital 1.

Phoenixwood 4 recorded two 5-4 victories in 3A, Phil Mauden and Rachel Buxton notching a maximum against Nottm Vets 3, then defeating Boots 3, by the same score but were unable to topple the visitors Darren and Christine Darvill who were unbeaten.

Chris Firmstone and Helen Bullock were the mainstay of Phoenixwood 5's 6-3 win against Lowdham in 4A by taking a maximum, as did Dave Adams and Pam Atkin for Nottm Vets at Radcliffe Knights 2, a 6-3 win helping to steer Vets 4 clear of relegation.

A Dobson and N Monaghan were undefeated to anchor Boots 4's 6-3 win at University Hospital 3 to move into second spot in 5B, whilst six three setters were needed to settle the Rushcliffe Arena 5 v Woodborough 3 encounter in 6B, before Arena 5 emerged with a 5-4 triumph.

Bingham 2 gained their first win in Mens Premier, defeating fellow relegation candidates Forest 2 8-1. Long Eaton enhanced their chances of promotion from Division One by beating Phoenixwood 1 9-0.

Beeston Valley 1 become firm favourites for the 3A title, defeating Nottm Vets 1 9-0. Rushcliffe Arena 1 recorded two 6-3 wins in 4B, Simon Nolan and Steve Barton being unbeaten against Sherwood Mount 1, Mick Archer and Phil Marshall taking a maximum against neighbours David Lloyd WB 2.

Janet Pickering and Anita Frear scored all Beeston Fields 2's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Boots 1 in Division 2B of the Ladies League, Sherwood Mount edging to a 5-4 win at Carlton Forum 2 in 3B, Angela Nowell and Tracie Scrivens scoring a maximum.

Rushcliffe Arena 1 consolidating their lead at the top of 3B by beating Kirkby Crocs 1 5-4, despite a maximum from Pat Betts and Kay Hawley.

It's Getting So Tight At The Top

Current Men's Division One leaders Mansfield Oaktree defeated West Bridgford 2, who had A Gilchrist and I Whyld unbeaten.

Phoenixwood's Mel Bullock and Ray Price scored three rubbers to help defeat Bingham. But they lost at Boots, despite a maximum from Bullock and Steve Wilson.

In the Premier Division, three from Robert Adcock and Ian Richardson helped Byron 1 to a 6-3 win over Forest 2. Rolls Royce completed their programme with a 9-0 win over Beeston Fields 1 to take at least second place in 2A.

Eight three-setters were needed to settle the Adbolton Crows 1 v University 2 encounter in 2B, both teams scoring over 300 points before Crows emerged with a 5-4 win. Andy Morrell and Steve Hales were unbeaten in Notts Vets 1's 5-4 win against Beeston Fields 2 in 3A. Steve Wade and Neil Vandervalt's three for Redhill 3 in 4A were to no avail as visitors Woodborough 1 won 5-4.

In 5A, Dave Adams and Geoff Bray recorded a maximum to lead Nottm Vets 2 to a 6-3 win over University Hospital 2.

Beeston Valley 3 gained their first win, Michael Wood and James Capel taking three rubbers in a 5-4 victory against Beauvale 4, Kirkby Crocs remaining unbeaten in 6A with a 6-3 success at East Leake 3, Ian Neal and Charlie Fearn took three.

Jon Orchard and Yvonne Jackson were undefeated to anchor Crusader's 5-4 victory over Beeston Valley 1. Beeston Valley 2's first win in 3A came at the expense of Nottm Vets 3, Andy Perry and Ailsa Townley registering a maximum in a 7-2 success. Redhill 4 scored a 5-4 win at Woodthorpe 1 in 4B, Steve Wade and Angela Walker notching a maximum. But they went down 6-3 at University 4, with R Cooper and H Chapman undefeated.

Sherwood Mount 1 moved into a challenging position in 5A with two 7-2 wins, Jeff Roberts and Angela Nowell taking three against Trent University Staff, and Jeff Roberts and Gill Webster being unbeaten at Radcliffe Knights 2.

Phoenixwood 1 are still unbeaten in Ladies premier, their latest victory being 7-2 at Forest, Kate Miller and Debbie Trow notching a maximum, but West Bridgford staying out in front with an 8-1 triumph at Bingham 2.

Kerry Gibson and Nicola Stokes were undefeated in Beeston Fields 1's 6-3 win over Mansfield Oaktree. Pat Davidson and Julie Mathews conceded only 15 points for Phoenixwood 4 in a 6-3 win over St Giles in 3B.

Phoenixwood Are On A High

Phoenixwood are going through a successful spell in the NBA Mixed Leagues.

The second team overcame Redhill 2 7-2, Mel Bullock and Karen Douglas recording a maximum. The thirds won by the same score at Rushcliffe Arena 1 in 3B, Stuart Button and Julie Foster starring, while James Bartlett and Keyleigh Mellors helped the 7th team to victory against Woodborough 3 in 6B, again by a 7-2 scoreline.

In the Premier Division, Bingham 1 extended their lead at the top by beating Byron 1 8-1.

University Hospital 1 defeated Boots 1 6-3 in Division 2A, highlighted by a treble from David Hall and Helen Li.

David Adams and Jean Kirk were undefeated to anchor Nottm Vets' 7-2 win over Rushcliffe Arena 4.

West Bridgford 2 edged to a 5-4 win over Long Eaton in Mens Division One, Simon Bassett and Alistair Gilchrist being undefeated.

Long Eaton bounced back to beat Bingham 3 9-0, while I Price and C Weston's maximum for Byron 2 was all in vain as they went down 5-4 at Redhill 1.

John England and Grayson Clare helped Phoenixwood 2 to a 6-3 win at University 3. Crusader completed their programme with a 9-0 victory over East Leake 1 in 3B.

Dave Willis and Bill Houghton were unbeaten in Nottm Vets 2's 5-4 win over Rushcliffe Arena 2 in 5A.

In Ladies Division One, Lee Truong and Pauline Adams registered a maximum but saw Redhill 1 go down 5-4 at Carlton Forum 1. Forum suffered a 5-4 loss at home to Beeston Fields 1, Kerry Gibson and Nicola Stokes notching a maximum.

David Lloyd WB 2 edged to a 5-4 win at David Lloyd Aspley with three from K Magee and M Crowe. In 4A, a maximum from Cath Jones and Eileen Griffin anchored Kirkby Crocs 2's 5-4 win over Rushcliffe Arena 2.

Super Double For David Lloyd WB
7th February 2004

David Lloyd WB underlined their bid for promotion with two 9-0 victories, over Division 3A Phoenixwood 4 and nearest challengers Beeston Fields 3, to shoot to the top of the table.

In the Premier Division, University 1 overcame Forest 1 5-4, with a maximum from Ross Geary and Jo Richens.

Despite a 42-point deficit in the team totals, Forest 1 bounced back with two wins, 5-4 against Bingham 1 and 7-2 at Byron 1, Adam and Lorraine Buck scoring a maximum in both matches to bring Forest back into contention.

Division One saw Redhill 2 defeat Beeston Fields 1 5-4. Phil Moore and Jackie Thompson were unbeaten.

Will Simpson and Ann Lovegrove scored all Byron 5's rubbers in a 6-3 loss at Kirkby Crocs 3.

West Bridgford 1 maintained their challenge to unseat leaders Bingham 1 in Mens Premier by defeating Bingham 2 6-3, anchored by a maximum from I Whyld and M Smith.

G Davison and N Kahn scored all Beeston Fields 2's rubbers in a 6-3 loss at Byron 3 in 3A. David Lloyd WB 2 moved ahead in 4B by beating Sherwood Mount 8-1 and East Leake 3 stayed on the heels of the leaders in 6A by winning 8-1 at Beeston Valley 4.

Two victories from Beeston Fields 2, 8-1 at Byron 1 and 7-2 over Woodborough improved their chances of finishing runners-up in Ladies 2B.

Both Kirkby Crocs teams remain unbeaten, the first team winning 9-0 at St Giles in 3A and the Seconds beating Byron 2 by 6-3 in 4A.

Beeston Valley Are First To A Title

Beeston Valley have become the first team to take a trophy this season.

They completed an unbeaten run in style with a 9-0 triumph at Redhill 2 to put their name on the Ladies 2B trophy.

In the Ladies Premier, Phoenixwood 2 went down 6-3 at champions-elect West Bridgford and 8-1 at home to challengers Bingham 1, who then fell 5-4 at home to Forest. Loraine Bush and Jane Tarrant were undefeated, to virtually ruin Bingham's chances of the title.

Pat Davidson and Julie Mathews got a maximum to lead Phoenixwood 2 to a 5-4 win at Nottm Vets 2 in Division 2A, while East Leake edged to a 5-4 win over Boots 2 in 3A. Gill Rogerson and Zoe Kirk being unbeaten, as were Donna Marshall and Doreen Connor in Rushcliffe Arena 1's 7-2 success at Sherwood Mount in 3B.

In Division One Mixed, Bingham 2's championship hopes took a knock when they lost out 5-4 at Nottm Vets.

In a match of six three setters, Beeston Fields 1 beat Phoenixwood 2 8-1, while Phoenixwood 1 went down 6-3 at Redhill 2. Robert Richards and Pauline Adams were unbeaten for the home side.

Beeston Fields 2 moved to the top of 2A, Jamie Thomas and Jill Davidson leading a 6-3 success at University Hospital.

Knights 7-2 win at Carlton 2 was anchored by Robert Gillespie and Angela Clayton, while a maximum from Rennison and Parmenter helped Southwell Centre 2 to a 5-4 win against East Leake 2. They also scored all Southwell's rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Redhill 5, in 6A.

Kirkby Crocs 3 gained revenge for a previous defeat by John Carroll in 7B, by recording a 6-3 win with three rubbers from Mike Brooks and Amanda Dennis.

Bingham 1 took another step toward the Premier Men's title with a 6-3 win at Byron 1, while West Bridgford 1 defeated Forest 2 6-3. M Smith and G Weir were unbeaten.

The two Ians, Price and Richardson, notched a maximum for Byron 2, but saw their team go down 5-4 at Phoenixwood 1. David Lindley and Phil Wiltshire scored all David Lloyds WB 1's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Beeston Fields 1 in 2A. Carlton Forum 1 defeated Fields by the same score, with a maximum from Andy Tyas and Andy Shaw, to go top of the table.

Knights 1 defeated Carlton Forum 2 5-4 in 2B, aided by a maximum from John Clayton and Joe Ames, while Knights 2's 7-2 win against Sherwood Mount owed much to a maximum from Andrew Early and Pete Turnbull.

East Leake 3 gained a 7-2 success at Beauvale 5, with Chris Cleaver and Greg Allan unbeaten.

Mansfield Are Top Of The Tree

Mansfield Oaktree 2 went top of Mens 2A, Steve Pincott and Chris Smith being undefeated in a 5-4 win over Carlton Forum 2.

Crusader strengthened their position in 3B with a 7-2 win at St Giles 1, while S Wade and N Vandeavelt were unbeaten in Redhill 3's 5-4 win against Adbolton Crows 2.

Kirkby Crocs 2 proved too strong for Beeston Valley 4, winning 9-0 in 6A.

Leading contenders in the Premier Mixed both won. Bingham 1 defeated Redhill 1 7-2 and West Bridgford 1 dumped Byron 1 8-1.

But Bridgford 2 went down 5-4 to Nottingham Veterans 1 in Division 1, with J Eccles and S Pulley unbeaten.

Andy and Tracy Martin were undefeated for David Lloyd WB 1, as they gained a 6-3 success at Beeston Valley 2 in 3A. Valley also went down 2-7 to Carlton 1, James Hand and Natalie Tuffrey recording a maximum.

In 3B, Stuart Button and Julie Foster took Phoenixwood 3 to a 6-3 victory at Byron 3.

Beeston Fields 4 took over in 5A after a 7-2 win against Sherwood Mount 2, while Crocs 1 consolidated top spot in 6A with an 8-1 success at David Lloyd Aspley 2.

Nottingham Veterans 1 extend their lead in Ladies Division One by beating Mansfield Oaktree 7-2. Mary Willis and Jacqui Burton were undefeated.

In 2B Jill Davison and Anita Frear were unbeaten to lead Beeston Fields 2 to a 6-3 success against Adbolton Crows 2.

Bette Brownbridge and Jo Hickling took Woodborough to a 5-4 win over Byron 1.

Redhill Mount A Double Bid

Redhill are making a promotion challenge on two fronts in the NBA Leagues. The first men move into second spot in Division One by beating West Bridgford 2 6-3.

They were unable to topple the visitors' M Smith and I Whyld who were undefeated, the home side's all-round strength pulling them through to victory.

In Ladies Division One, an 8-1 success against a depleted Crusader maintains the pressure on the leaders.

In Premier Mens, University 1 took a major step toward safety with a 6-3 success at Bingham 2, as Mansfield Oaktree 1 took over top spot with a 7-2 success against Long Eaton.

In 2A, Rolls Royce Derby, although good enough to take six rubbers from two pairs, lost out 3-6 to challengers Carlton Forum.

In 3A, Paul Gray and Nassa Khan scored all Beeston Fields 2's rubbers in a 3-6 home defeat to Carlton 1.

Andy Perry and Simon Martell were undefeated to guide Beeston Valley 2 to a 5-4 win over East Lake 1 in 3B, while two wins at John Carroll 2, 5-4 against Boots 2 and 9-0 away at Adbolton Crows 2, moves them in to top spot in 4B.

In 6A, T Bond and M Edwards were unbeaten for East Leake 3 in their 6-3 win over Beauvale 5, St Giles 2 completed a 7-2 double over Beeston Valley 4, but then went down 8-1 to prospective champions Kirkby Crocs 2.

Bingham 3 are staying hard on the heels of their second team in Division One Mixed, when after five three-setters against Beeston Fields 1 they emerged with a 6-3 success, Colin Martin and Kerry Gibson scoring all the visitors' rubbers.

They followed this by beating Nottingham Veterans 1 7-2 with Tony Gleave and Chris Stephenson recording a maximum.

Daniel Stott and Bryony Farrar scored three rubbers to lead Adbolton Crows 3 to a 5-4 win against Phoenixwood 6 in 4B, Steve Adam and Ruth Pennick's maximum anchoring Woodborough 2's 6-3 win at Radcliffe Knights 2, before going down 7-2 at Nottingham Veterans 4.

Trent University Staff notched a 6-3 win over Radcliffe Knights 2, Terry Hall and Yvette Mann registering a maximum.

A few matches were played in the Ladies League, Forest overcoming Bingham 2 in the Premier Division without too much difficulty.

Phoenixwood 3 remained unbeaten in 2A, winning 8-1 against David Lloyd WB 1, and Beeston Valley 1's 8-1 triumph at Boots 1 in 2B putting them in a strong position for promotion with only one match to play.

Bingham Make It Look So Easy

Bingham men consolidated their lead in the Premier Division with a thumping 9-0 win over Forest 2.

And Bingham 2 mixed saw off the challenge of Redhill 2 by the same scoreline to strengthen their position at the top of the Division 1 table.

It was also good news for Bingham 4, who notched a 6-3 win away at Adbolton Crows 1 in 2B.

In Mixed 2A, Colin Martin and Rebecca Emeton's maximum anchored Beeston Fields 2's 5-4 win over Nottingham Veterans 2.

University 3 took over at the top of 3B after beating Woodborough 1 9-0.

Peter Huxley and Julie Johnson's maximum for Woodthorpe 1 in 4B was to no avail as their team went down 5-4 to Adbolton Crows 3 and 8-1 defeat against University 4, before hitting form with an 8-1 win at Phoenixwood 6.

In 5A, Sherwood Mount 1 earned a 6-3 victory at Woodborough 2, Jon Apedale and Rachel McGrath taking three.

Kirkby Crocs 1's 8-1 triumph at Redhill 5 gave them the lead in 6A while Kirkby Crocs 2's 9-0 win over Rushcliffe Arena 5 puts them in pole position in 6B.

West Bridgford squeezed out a 5-4 win at University 1 in Men's Premier, thanks to a maximum from J Boxall and G Weir, while three rubbers from Karl Severn and Andrew Palmer guided Long Eaton to a 5-4 win at Boots 1 in Division 1.

Mansfield Oaktree 2 took top spot in 2B by beating Adbolton Crows 1 6-3. Beauvale 3's first win in 4A came at the expense of Redhill 3.

Southwell Centre had a 5-4 win against Radcliffe Knights 2 in 4B while Dave Willis and Bill Houghton were undefeated for Nottingham Veterans 2 in their 6-3 success against Beeston Valley 3 in 5A.

In the ladies league, Adbolton Crows 1 moved ahead in 2A with two successes.

Jane Rudge and Bryony Farrar notched a maximum in the 5-4 win against University 2 and were undefeated in the 6-3 victory at Bingham 3.

University 2 bounced back with a 7-2 win at Nottingham Veterans 2.

Redhill 2 are still unbeaten in 2B, Lynn White and Margaret Radford's three rubbers leading them to a 5-4 result over Beeston Fields 2.

Beeston Valley 1 extend their lead in 2B by beating Adbolton Crows 2 9-0. Southwell Centre's 8-1 triumph over Beeston Valley 2 consolidated their lead in 3A.

Boots 2 are hot on their heels after a 5-4 win against David Lloyd WB 2, Nicky Monaghan and Kay Eade registering a maximum.

A Massive Win For Bridgford

West Bridgford took a major step towards retaining their Premier Ladies title by defeating the team likely to be their closest challengers, Bingham 1.

L Roebuck and K Reece were undefeated in a 5-4 victory, which may well prove to be a championship decider.

Adbolton Crows 1 started their programme with an 8-1 win at Nottingham Veterans 2 in 2A, Beeston Valley's 9-0 win over Woodborough consolidating their lead at the top of 2B.

Southwell Centre take over top spot in 3A by beating David Lloyd West Bridgford 2 8-1, while in 3B Julie Mathews and Pat Davidson's maximum was of no avail, as Phoenixwood 4 lost 5-4 to Rushcliffe Arena 1.

In Division One Mixed Ben Sanders and Kerry Gibson were undefeated for Beeston Fields 1, but saw their team go down 5-4 to Nottingham Veterans 1, Bingham 2 gaining a 7-2 success at Phoenixwood 1, Mark Attewell and Anya Hutchinson being unbeaten to take the lead in the Division.

Boots 1 remain unbeaten in 2A by defeating Nottingham Veterans 2 7-2, S Nielsen and L Tarbuck being undefeated, for University 2, but the result going Adbolton 1's way 5-4 in 2B.

David Lloyd West Bridgford 1 scored a home win in 3A, Steve Wilks an Ruth Coleman being unbeaten in a 6-3 victory over Carlton 1.

Kev Tantum and Barbara Newley notching a maximum as Redhill 3 defeated Rushcliffe Arena 1 by 7-2 in 3B.

S Barber and J James were unbeaten to guide St Giles 1 to a 6-3 win over Carlton 2 in 4A, Carlton Forum 2 gaining a 5-4 win in a close contest at University 4 in 4B.

In 5B David Lloyd West Bridgford 2 recorded a 6-3 win at neighbours Rushcliffe Arena 3, Andrew Robinson and Abby McCormack taking three, but then went down 5-4 at Boots 4 whose A Dobson and K Buckland registered a maximum.

Brothers Mike and Chris Olivey were undefeated to lead University 2 to a 5-4 victory over Mansfield Oaktree 2 in Mens 2B, University Staff gaining their first win in 3A by beating Byron 3 6-3. Alex Dodds and Will Simpson scoring all Byron's rubbers.

In a glut of matches in 4B Radcliffe Knights 2 edged a 5-4 result against David Lloyd West Bridgford 2 aided by a maximum from Pete Turnbull and Andrew Early.

University 4 returned from Sherwood Mount with a 5-4 verdict and then in turn went down 6-3 at David Lloyd West Bridgford 2, J Warwick and A Kierney, scoring all the students rubbers.

C Firmstone and J Gregory's maximum guided Beauvale 4 to a 5-4 win over Rushcliffe Arena 2 in 5A, while in 5B a maximum from C Cleaver and G Allan anchored East Leake 2's 7-2 success against David Lloyd West Bridgford 3.

Forest Are The Team To Beat

Forest have been in top form in the NBA leagues.

In Premier Mixed, Forest 2 scored an excellent 7-2 win at Redhill 1, followed by an 8-1 victory over Mansfield Oaktree, while, in Division 6A, Forest 3 won 9-0 at East Leake 2.

Not to be outdone, the men's first string defeated fancied Byron 1 6-3, Adam Buck and Martin Norman being undefeated, while the Ladies overcame a depleted University side 7-2.

In Division 1 Mixed, Bingham scored two wins against Phoenixwood, 6-2 by the thirds against Phoenixwood 1, Dave Limb and Irena Price being unbeaten, and the seconds 9-0 over Phoenixwood 2.

In 2A, Matt Adcock and Debbie Whitmore took a maximum to guide Byron 2 to a 6-3 win at Nottingham Veterans 2.

In 2B, Crusader went down 5-4 at University 2, James Gilham and Louise Tarbit notching a maximum for the Students. But they bounced back to defeat Bingham 4 7-2.

Martin Tilling and Kim Martin recorded a maximum for Carlton 1 in 3A, but saw their team go down 5-4 at Boots 3 as did Steve Barton and Doreen Connor for Rushcliffe Arena 1 in their 5-4 loss at Woodborough 1 in the same division.

Michael Foster and Anne Ward's maximum led Redhill 4 to a 7-2 win over Adbolton Crows 3 in 4B. Simon Campbell and Sundhya Menon being undefeated in Byron 5's 6-3 win against Kirkby Crocs 3 in 7B.

Bingham 1 are setting a hot pace in Premier Men with two 9-0 victories away at University 1 and at home to Beauvale 1.

But the thirds lost 6-3 at West Bridgford 2 in Division 1 where the home side's S Torrens and J Eccles registered a maximum.

Rolls Royce Derby's progress goes unimpeded in 2A with a 9-0 win against Beauvale 2 to go top of the table. Beeston Valley 1 opened with a win in 3A, Warwick Mooney and Andy Perry's maximum leading them to a 6-3 success over Beeston Fields 2.

Carlton Forum 3 defeated Phoenixwood 3 8-1 in 3B but then lost at home to Crusader 6-2.

The visitors' John Brooks and Jon Orchard secured a maximum as three rubbers from P Huxley and A Beers anchored Woodthorpe's 7-2 success over Sherwood Mount in 4B.

Phoenixwood's second victory in the Ladies Premier came at the expense of University 1, despite Jo Richens and Steph Lally being unbeaten to take all the Students' rubbers for Phoenixwood to emerge 6-2 winners.

As Phoenixwood 3 opened their account in 2A with an 8-1 win over Trent University Staff, Beeston Valley 1's 8-1 win against Byron 1 keeps them in the hunt in 2B.

Kirkby Crocs 1's opener in 3B was also an 8-1 success versus Sherwood Mount.

Carlton Are Closing Gap

Carlton Forum I repeated their opening 7-2 success against Beauvale II with a repeat victory over Phoenixwood II in Men's 2A.

Andy Tyas and Andy Shaw scored a maximum to keep Carlton Forum snapping at the heels of leaders Rolls Royce Derby.

In the Premier Men's, Byron I defeated Beauvale I 5-4, Robert and Chris Adcock unbeaten.

West Bridgford opened their title defence with an 8-1 win against Forest I.

Chris Parrott and Garry Biggam were undefeated for Carlton I, but saw their team go down 5-4 to University Hospital in 3A.

Andy Morrell and Raj Midha were undefeated as Nottingham Veterans I took a 6-3 win at University Staff.

A maximum from James Capel and Dave Finlay guided Beeston Valley II to a 7-2 win at Phoenixwood III in 3B.

John Carroll I lead after two wins, 7-2 over Crusader and 8-1 against East Leake I.

In Division One Mixed, Phoenixwood II bounced back to take a 5-4 win over Nottingham Veterans I. In 2A Byron II also gained a 5-4 victory.  Ian Price and Jackie Jebb had three rubbers at Beeston Fields II.

Byron III suffered two 5-4 losses in 3A to Rushcliffe Arena I and University III.

In 4A, St Giles I defeated Adbolton Crows IV 7-2 but then lost out to University Hospital II by the same score.

Steve Barton and Doreen Connor were undefeated as Rushcliffe Arena II recorded a 6-3 win at Woodthorpe I in 4B.

In 7B a maximum from Gary Betts and Cath Jones led Kirkby Crocs III to a 6-3 win at Boots V.

In the Ladies leagues, Nottingham Veterans recorded their third Division One by beating Crusader 8-1.

Kerry Gibson and Nichola Stokes were unbeaten as Beeston Fields I defeated Redhill II 6-3.

Bingham III edged a 5-4 win at Trent University Staff in 2A.

Jane Kerry and Sindy Midha scored all David Lloyd Aspley's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Southwell in 3A.

Oaktree Fall To Double Defeat

Mansfield Oaktree were on the receiving end of two thrashings in the Premier Mixed league - 7-2 to University 1 and 9-0 to Bingham 1.

A Gilchrist and S Pulley were undefeated for West Bridgford 2 as they overcame Phoenixwood 2 by 6-3 in Division One.

In 2D, Beeston Valley 1 emerged from a close contest against Boots 2 with a 5-4 scoreline.

Darren and Christine Darvill were unbeaten in Boots 3 6-3 victory over Nottingham Veterans 3 in 3A.

Nottingham Veterans 3 also went down heavily to Beeston Fields 3 by 8-1.

Newly-merged Adbolton Crows 2 opened with a 6-3 win over Rushcliffe Arena 1, anchored by a maximum from Ha Le Vinh and Sue Brewill. But they went down 5-4 to University 3 whose Chris Olivey and Louise Tarbit were unbeaten.

Beeston Fields 4 recorded two 5-4 successes in 5B. N Khan and Yi Wang were undefeated against David Lloyd.

For David Lloyd Aspley 1, Derek Varley and Helen Weaver notched a maximum at University Hospital 3. Unbeaten Ian Clark and Alec Gilchrist were the mainstay of West Bridgford 2's 6-3 win in Mens Division One over Boots 1 who also lost at Redhill 1 8-1.

Carlton Forum 1 opened with a 7-2 success at Beauvale 2 in 2A, with Steven Smith and John Lawton undefeated. Colin Leach and Ha Le Vinh scored all Adbolton Crows' rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Redhill 2 in 2B.

Steve Hales and Andy Morrell recorded a maximum to lead Nottingham Veterans 1 to a 6-3 win over Byron 3 in 3A, while J Warbrick and A Kieme's three rubbers were of no avail as their team, University 4, lost 6-3 at Rushcliffe Arena 1 in 4B.

S England and A Baldwin's three rubbers guided Byron 4 to a 6-3 victory at Beauvale 4 in 5A.

Nick Durow and Dave Weedon scored all Beauvale 5's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at Beeston Valley 4 in 6A.

Beeston Valley then went down 7-2 to St Giles 2, M Maginnis and M Wootton recording a maximum. They also lost 6-3 at East Leake 3 6-3 whose G Allan and C Cleaver recorded a maximum.

R Dennis and A Thompson were undefeated for Kirkby Crocs 2 in their 7-2 success at Beauvale 5 in the same Division.

Jo Richens and Louise Tarbit scored all University 1's rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Bingham 1 in the Ladies Premier.

Mary Willis and Chris Richardson were unbeaten as Nottingham Veterans 1 defeated Carlton Forum 1 in Division One.

In 2B Moira Houlton and Jacqui Dennis were undefeated to guide Boots 1 to a 7-2 win at Byron 1 and a maximum from Emma and Sally Moors was instrumental in Boots 2's 5-4 win against Beeston Valley 2 in 3A.

Boots marched into the new season with two emphatic victories in the Mixed leagues, the first team beating Beeston Fields seconds 8-1 in Division 2A.

Steve and Kay Eade Darvill starred for Boots 3 in their 8-1 success against Beeston Valley 2 in 3A.

A close affair in Division One between Phoenixwood 1 and 2 saw the firsts scrape home 5-4.

The all-Bingham encounter resulted in a 6-3 win for the second team.

Colin Abbott and Julie Peart scored a maximum for Nottingham Veterans 2 in a 6-3 win over Carlton Forum 1 in 2A.

Redhill 3 had mixed fortune in 3B, winning 8-1 at Byron 3 but then going down 5-4 at home to University 3, the students then going down 6-3 at Phoenixwood 3.

Jim Hughes and Tracy Barkes were unbeaten in UnivHospital 3's 6-3 win against Rushcliffe Arena 3 in 5B, but then went down 8-1 at David Lloyd Aspley 1, who in turn succumbed to Redhill 5 7-2.

Woodthorpe 2 defeated Woodborough 3 by 6-3 in 6B. J Johnson and M Shaw were undefeated but found themselves on the wrong end of the same scoreline at Kirkby Crocs 2.

Byron opened their account in Men's Premier with a 6-3 win at University 1 anchored by an undefeated maximum from Robert Adcock and Chris Newton, while in Division One an unbeaten maximum from Steve Pincott and Neal Ward led Mansfield Oaktree 1 to a 6-3 win at Bingham 3.

University 2 overcame Carlton Forum 2 in 2B, Mike and Chris Olivey notching a maximum in a 6-3 victory. Newly-promoted University Staff found it tough in 3A, losing their first two matches 7-2 to Carlton 1 and 5-4 to Beeston Fields 2.

John Carroll opened with two wins, the first team beating St Giles1 7-2 in 3B and the seconds defeating Beauvale 3 8-1 in 4A.

In 4B, University won a close encounter with Woodthorpe 1 5-4, thanks to a maximum from J Warbick and P Robins.

Three rubbers from S England and A Baldwin highlighted Byron 4's 7-2 win over Beeston Valley 3 in 5A, while in 5B, John Gibson and V J Panesaq's maximum for Carlton 2 was of no avail as their team went down 5-4 at East Leake 2.
