Bingham At The Double
4th April 2005

Having already won the Mens Premier title, Bingham went on to complete a championship double in the Mixed by beating holders West Bridgford.  Although Darryl Roebuck and Sarah Pulley were undefeated for Bridgford, Bingham’s all round strength pulled them through for a 5-4 win, and the title.  Bingham 3rd were also 5-4 winners against Boots in Div 1, Chris Johnson and Sarah Heathcote being unbeaten.

Two couples achieved maximums in Div 2A, Adrian Elson and Lorraine Britton for University Hospital in their 6-3 win over Phoenixwood 3rd, and Matt Adcock and Dot Herbert for Byron 2nd in their 7-2 success against Carlton Forum.

Chris Royle and Annabelle Hutchings scored a maximum to lead Southwell Centre to a 6-3 win at University 4th in Div 3B.

East Leake gained two victories in Div 4A, Andrew Longton and Barbara West taking three in the 6-3 win against Sherwood Mount and John Atkinson and Gill Rogerson’s maximum guiding them to a 5-4 win over Rushcliffe Arena to take the Div 4A title.

Kirkby Crocodiles clinched the Div 5A title with an 8-1 win over Nottingham Veterans 4th, whilst a 9-0 win against Experian assures the Div 6B title goes to Kirkby Crocodiles 3rd.

Forest moved into runners up spot in Mens Premier, behind Bingham only on rubbers, Sam Wadsworth and Adam Buck being undefeated in their 6-3 win at Bingham 2nd.

A close contest in Div 2A saw Carlton Forum 3rd emerge with a 5-4 win at University Hospital, despite three rubbers from the home side’s Charlie Parr and Adrian Elson. Adbolton Crows 5-4 win at Redhill 2nd in Div 2B was anchored by a maximum from Steve Wilks and Dave Jones.

Peter Turnbull and Adrian Shaw’s maximum led Radcliffe Knights to a 5-4 win over Rushcliffe Arena in Div 3A.

David Lloyd Aspley stayed unbeaten in Div 5A after beating Rushcliffe Arena 2nd 8-1, but David Lloyd Aspley 2nd went down by the same score at Carlton 3rd in Div 5B.

Despite the students’ Jo Richens and Louise Tabbit being undefeated, Redhill gained a 5-4 victory at University to top the Ladies Div 1 table and win promotion to Premier.  Beeston Valley maintained their challenge for second place by beating Boots 8-1.

University 2nd saved themselves from relegation in Div 2A by beating University Hospital 6-3.  Redhill 2nd continued their winning run in Div 2B, Jenny Osborne and Gayle Parr being undefeated in their 5-4 defeat of Beeston Fields 2nd.

David Lloyd WB Close To Title
21st March 2005

David Lloyd WB stayed unbeaten in Div 2A Mens after their latest win 6-3 against Boots - Giles Nursey and Andy Fleming being undefeated - taking them to within striking distance of the title.  This would match the achievement of their Ladies team, whose 8-1 win at Nottingham Veterans 2nd makes them clear winners of Div 2A.

Rolls Royce moved to the top of Div 1 Mens with a 7-2 success at Beauvale, whilst Bingham 3rd’s two victories – 6-3 at Carlton and 5-4 over Adbolton Crows – could steer them clear of relegation in Div 2B.  Also, in the same division, Jon Orchard and John Brook were undefeated in Crusaders 6-3 win over Carlton.

In Div 3A, University 3rd staked their claim for promotion with a 7-2 victory against Woodborough, Steven Farey and Mark Chambers being undefeated.  Boots 2nd also overcame Woodborough 7-2, Roger Moors and Gary Stubley scoring a maximum, to condemn Woodborough to relegation.

A close contest in Div 4A between the two teams likely to be promoted resulted in Beeston Valley 3rd edging out St Giles 5-4, 11 games to 11, 269 points to 269 with Valley’s Paul Bluett and Paul Morris anchoring the win with a maximum.  Sherwood Mount also recorded a 5-4 win in Div 4A against Phoenixwood 3rd despite three rubbers from the visitors’ Chris Martin and Josh Gilmore.

Phoenixwood 2nd moved into second place in Mixed Div 2B with an 8-1 win over Adbolton Crows.

Despite losing 5-4 to Boots 4th, whose Roger and Sally Moors registered a maximum, Beeston Fields 4th should avoid relegation from Div 4B after beating Rushcliffe Arena 2nd 8-1.  David Lloyd Aspley’s 8-1 win against Adbolton Crows 3rd maintains their unbeaten record in this division.

Kirkby Crocodiles 9-0 success over David Lloyd WB 2nd takes them clear at the top of Div 5A.  In Div 5B, Adbolton Crows 4th had two 8-1 results, defeating Rushcliffe Arena 3rd but losing to Kirkby Crocodiles 2nd.

In Div 6A, Andrew Shaw and Maxine Day were unbeaten in Carlton Forum 3rd’s 7-2 win against St Giles 2nd, who then bounced back to beat Byron 4th 5-4, despite the visitors’ Allan and Dawn Baldwin being undefeated.

In a bottom of the table match in Ladies Premier, Beeston Fields edged out Bingham 2nd 5-4 but both teams are likely to go down.  Boots 2nd are expected to suffer the same fate in Div 2B, their latest results being 9-0 losses to both Bingham 3rd and Rushcliffe Arena.

Byron Back At First Attempt
18th March 2005

Two emphatic victories by Byron 1st assured their promotion back to the Premier Mixed Division at the first attempt - a 9-0 win at Beeston Fields was followed by an 8-1 success at Boots.  With one match to play to decide the title, West Bridgford 2nd maintained their challenge in Div 1, also defeating Beeston Fields 9-0, to move into second place.

Redhill 2nd stay in contention in Div 2A after defeating relegation candidates Beeston Fields 2nd 6-3.  Beeston Valley’s 8-1 win over Bingham 4th keeps them in the running in Div 2B.

Boots 2nd notched an 8-1 win at Carlton to move into second place in Div 3A and, not to be outdone, Boots 3rd also won 8-1 against Phoenixwood 5th in Div 3B.

Jon Apedaile and Rachel McGrath registered three rubbers – all in three sets in a match of seven three setters – for Sherwood Mount in Div 4A, but saw their team go down to visitors Carlton 2nd 5-4.  Rushcliffe Arena 2nd defeated Nottingham Veterans 3rd by the same score in Div 4B, despite the visitors’ top pair, Dave Adams and Wendy Walton, being unbeaten.

In Div 5A, Redhill 5th had a 5-4 win at Nottingham Veterans 4th, Eddie Wright and Gayle Parr being undefeated, and a 5-4 loss at Woodthorpe, whose Peter Huxley and J Johnson were unbeaten.

Bingham took another step towards retaining their Premier Mens title by beating West Bridgford 6-3, Darryl Roebuck and Grant Weir scoring all Bridgford’s rubbers.  Whilst in Div 1, Phoenixwood, striving to avoid relegation, gained a 6-3 success against University 2nd, Mel Bullock and Stewart Button recording a maximum.

Chris Page and Steve Eade were unbeaten to lead Boots to their first win in Div 2A, beating Phoenixwood 2nd 6-3.  Beeston Fields completed their programme by beating University Hospital 6-3, Ben Sanders and Jamie Thomas taking three.

Stuart Thorpe and Richard Stanford’s maximum guided Byron 3rd to a 6-3 win at Beeston Fields 2nd in Div 3A.  David Lloyd WB 2nd kept things tight at the top of Div 3B with a 7-2 win at Boots 2nd.

In Div 5A, Dave Elson and Richard Henton were undefeated to anchor University Hospital 2nd to a 5-4 win at David Lloyd WB 4th.  Simon Last and Steve Ward notched a maximum in Experian’s 5-4 win against Beeston Valley 4th, whilst Tom Bond and Martin Edwards’ maximum was instrumental in the East Leake 3rd 7-2 success over Adbolton Crows 2nd in Div 5B.

Beeston Valley’s 8-1 win over Adbolton Crows keeps them on the fringes of the promotion picture in Ladies Div 1, as University remain unbeaten with a 6-3 success against Carlton Forum.

Emma Bullock and Julie Matthews were unbeaten in Phoenixwood 3rd 6-3 win against University Hospital, as Byron completed their Div 3A programme with an 8-1 win at St Giles.

Premier Title Race Is Hotting Up
11 March 2005

The race for the Men’s Premier Championship is hotting up.  Both leading contenders gained comprehensive victories over luckless Redhill, Bingham winning 8-1 and Forest 9-0.  This leaves the title race wide open, each team having two matches to play.

Long Eaton met with their first defeat in Div 1 going down 6-3 at Carlton Forum.  Carlton Forum 3rd lost 7-2 at Boots in Div 2A, the home side’s Chris Ince and Steve Eade being unbeaten.  However, Carlton Forum 2nd restored honour with a 6-3 win over Crusader in Div 2B, Andy Tyas and David Jacoby being undefeated.

University 3rd stay in the leading group in Div 3B by beating Radcliffe Knights 2nd 6-3.

East Leake 2nd 6-3 win over Southwell Centre in Div 4B assures them of second spot and promotion.  In the same division, Carlton 2nd recorded their first win 6-3 against David Lloyd West Bridgford 3rd, but only after eight three setters with a points total of 317–316!

Mark Wells and Steve Phillips were undefeated to anchor St Giles 2nd to a 6-3 win over Adbolton Crows 2nd to stay in contention in Div 5B.  Terry Hall and Tony Walsh registered a maximum in Trent University Staff’s 6-3 win against Sherwood Mount 2nd.

Martin Tullet and Jo Richens were undefeated to guide University to a 6-3 win over Redhill in Mixed Premier, whilst University 2nd lost to Byron 6-3 in Div 1 with Steve Gregory and Vanessa Law scoring a maximum.  Also in Div 1, Alistair Gilchrist and Sarah Pulley were undefeated as West Bridgford 2nd stayed in the running with a 7-2 success against Crusader.  Carlton Forum 2nd are likely to be relegated from Div 3A after losing their last two matches, 5-4 to Byron 3rd and 6-3 to Boots 3rd, for whom Rob Brown and Michelle Jordan were undefeated.

Sherwood Mount 2nd experienced mixed fortunes in their two final matches in Div 5B.  Jon Apedaile and Rachel McGrath were unbeaten in their 7-2 win over Woodthorpe 2nd, but the team lost by the same score at University Hospital 3rd, Geoff Narborough and Joan Lynn recording a maximum.

In Div 6A, Paul Morris and Emma Vincent scored all Beeston Valley’s rubbers in a 3-6 defeat at Byron 4th.  Forest 3rd overcame John Carroll 8-1 to stay at the head of affairs.  Experian are finding it tough going in Div 6A suffering 9-0 losses to both Radcliffe Knights 2nd and Gotham.

Forest’s title hopes took a knock in Ladies Premier with a 5-4 loss at Phoenixwood.

Southwell Centre notched up a 6-3 win against University 2nd in Div 2A, Alison Wellings and Hannah Daykin being undefeated.  Crusader keep up the chase in Div 2B, Yvonne Jackson and Sandra Watson taking three in their 7-2 success at Rushcliffe Arena.  St Giles registered their first win in Div 3A beating Adbolton Crows 2nd 5-4.

Carlton’s 7-2 win over Kirkby Crocodiles 2nd, Jodie Smee and Natalie Biggs being unbeaten, make them favourite for runners up spot in Div 3B.

Bingham New Favourites For Title
26 February 2005

In an epic battle of six three setters and points totals of 279–278 Bingham emerged 6-3 winners over Forest, with Adam and Lorraine Buck scoring all Forest's rubbers.  Bingham are now the new favourites for the Premier mixed title with two matches still to play.

Six three setters were also needed in the University versus Beeston Fields encounter in Division 1, the students emerging with a 6-3 win to inflict a first defeat on Beeston Fields. Phoenixwood are staying in contention in this division with a 5-4 win at Crusader.

Beeston Valley march on in division 2B, Graeme Wallace and Alison Bexon taking three in a 6-3 win Adbolton Crows.

Adbolton Crows notched a 6-3 win of their own as their 3rd team defeated Rushcliffe Arena 2nd in 4B, while David Jones and Sue Brewill were undefeated despite losing 3-6 at prospective champions Kirkby Crocodiles 2nd.  Mike Brooks and Pat Betts scoring a maximum for the home side.

Beeston Valley 3rd are now assured of promotion in 5B.  University Staff scored two heavy victories in Division 6A, 9-0 over Experian and 8-1 against Phoenixwood 6th.

Byron staked their claim to the Mens premier title, completing their fixtures with a 6-3 win over former champions West Bridgford, Shaun Round and Dale Twigger being undefeated.  West Bridgford 2nd edged a relegation battle with Bingham 2nd by 5-4, no pair being able to dominate.

Long Eaton opened in Division 1 with two 5-4 successes, Andrew Palmer and Karl Severn taking three at University 2nd and Andrew Palmer and Peter Wright being undefeated at Phoenixwood.

Colin Leach and Pete Drew registered a maximum to lead Adbolton Crows to a 5-4 win over John Carroll, putting a dent in the visitor's hopes of the title in Division 2B. John Carroll 2nd also went down 7-2 at home to Nottingham Veterans, keeping alive Veterans hopes of promotion from 3A.

Eric Tan and Eddie Wright were undefeated for Redhill 3rd against Byron 4th but saw their team lose 5-4 in Division 4A.  Andrew Longton and Kevin Richardson’s maximum guided East Leake 2nd to a 5-4 win at University in Division 4B.

University come into the promotion picture in Ladies Division 1 with two 8-1 victories, defeating Adbolton Crows and Phoenixwood 2nd. Redhill stay in the frame by beating Beeston Valley 8-0.

Linda Pell and Rachel Buxton were undefeated for Phoenixwood 3rd in their 6-3 win over University 2nd in Division 2A, as were Denise Lewis and Dawn Baldwin in Byron's 7-2 success against Adbolton Crows 2nd in Division 3A.

David Lloyd WB Chasing Triple Titles
19 February 2005

David Lloyd WB are chasing promotion in all three sections of the NBA League.

The Ladies team are now clear favourites to win Division 2A, Ruth Coleman and Heidi Wiltshire recording a maximum in their latest 5-4 win against Southwell Centre, while their 1st Mens remain unbeaten in 2A, David Lindley and Paul Wiltshire anchoring their 6-3 success against nearest challengers Beeston Fields.

The Mixed team kept the pressure on the leaders in 2A with a 6-3 win over Phoenixwood 3.

Bingham stay unbeaten in Premier Mixed with a 9-0 victory at Nottm Vets.

Redhill 4 stay in contention in 3A, Eddie Wright and Gail Parr being unbeaten in a 7-2 win at Byron 3, who bounced back to beat Univ Hospital 2 by the same score.

Martyn Shaw and Karen Magee were undefeated to lead Woodthorpe to a 5-4 win at Southwell Centre 2, as were Chris Lewin and Jennie Agnew for Rushcliffe Arena 3 in their 6-3 success over Woodthorpe in 5B.

Beeston Valley 4 went down 5-4 to Carlton Forum 3 in 6A. Gotham won 6-3 at David Lloyd WB 3 in 6B.

John Carroll forge ahead in 2B, Claudius Gayle and Ian Thompson taking three in a 5-4 win over Redhill 2.

Gurjit Singh and Rob Preston were undefeated for John Carroll 2 in a 6-3 win at Radcliffe Knights in 3A, Kirkby Crocs clinching the title in this Division with an 8-1 win over Beeston Fields 2.

Steve Anderson and Simon Barnes scored all Boots 2's rubbers in a 3-6 loss to Radcliffe Knights 2 in 3B, Knights also overcoming Woodborough by the same score.

St Giles recorded two wins to take the lead in 4A, John Jackson and Alan Read scoring a maximum in the 7-2 win at Nottm Vets 2, followed by a 6-3 success at Redhill 3, while Mark Wells and Steve Phillips were unbeaten to lead St Giles 2 to a 5-4 win at East Leake 3 in 5B.

In the Ladies League, Crusader defeated Beeston Fields 2 by 7-2 in 2B, David Lloyd Aspley staying unbeaten in 3A with a 7-2 win at St Giles, as Sherwood Mount clinch the 3B title with a 5-4 win over Trent Univ Staff.

Keeping Up Pressure As Top Three Win
12 February 2005

All three leading teams in Division 1 Men's won to keep up the pressure at the top.

Forest 2 emerged from six three-setters to beat University 2 8-1; Beauvale scored a 7-2 success at Byron 2 and Rolls Royce won 6-3 at Carlton Forum where Simon and Dalton Shaw were undefeated.

In Premier Men's West Bridgford edged a 5-4 verdict at Bingham 2. West Bridgford 2 went down 9-0 at University.

John Carroll stay unbeaten in 2B with an 8-1 win at Crusader and Adbolton Crows consolidate their lead in 5B with an 8-1 win against Sherwood Mount 2.

Despite the students' Matthew Tullett and Jo Richens taking three rubbers, University went down 3-6 to Bingham in Premier Mixed.

West Bridgford dented Forest's title aspirations with a 6-3 success.

Byron 2 continue to dominate Division 2A, Matt Adcock and Dot Herbert being unbeaten in a 5-4 win at University Hospital.

Two 8-1 victories by Phoenixwood 2 against Bingham 4 and University 3 bring them back into contention in 2B. Hoony and Deb Li were undefeated in Trent Univ Staff's first win of the season - 6-3 over Sherwood Mount.

David Lloyd Aspley move into second place in 4B by overcoming Beeston Fields 4 7-2 through Anil Negi and Sindy Midha.

In Division 5A, a maximum from Mike Rennison and Sara Parmenter anchored Southwell Centre 2's 7-2 win at Redhill 5, while Anthony Gotts and Ava Anderson were undefeated for John Carroll 2 in the 5-4 defeat at Kirkby Crocs 3 in 6B.

Forest took another step toward the Premier Ladies title with an 8-1 win against Beeston Fields.

Phoenixwood 2 stay in contention in Division 1 by beating Redhill 6-3.

In 3A John Carroll defeated St Giles 6-3, Joy Smith and Ava Anderson taking three.

In 3B Carlton overwhelmed Woodborough 9-0 before losing 5-4 at leaders Sherwood Mount with Gill Webster and Rachel McGrath notching a maximum.

Drama For Forest Ladies
5 February 2005

Forest scored a dramatic 5-4 victory against West Bridgford in the Ladies Premier Division.

Loraine Buck and Jane Tennant conceded only 26 points as they became title favourites. Nottingham Vets won 6-3 at Beeston Fields, so should escape relegation.

In 3A, Abby McCormack and Emily Thomas were undefeated to lead David Lloyd WB to a 5-4 win over Byron. Byron beat Crusader 7-2 in Division One Mixed. Phoenixwood 4 were involved in two 7-2 results in 2A. The first saw them beat Carlton, but they lost at Carlton Forum.

Adbolton Crows 2 went to the top of 3A, defeating Phoenixwood 5 8-1 and Boots 3 6-3. Roger and Sally Moors were undefeated as Boots 4 edged Rushcliffe Arena 2 5-4 in Division 4B.

East Leake 2 completed their 6A programme with a 6-3 win over John Carroll, Kevin Richardson and Annie Bond being undefeated. David Lloyd WB 3 are unbeaten in 6B, with a 6-3 win at Radcliffe Knights 2.

Forest beat West Bridgford 7-2 in Mens Premier. David Lloyd WB's 8-1 success over Carlton Forum kept them in contention in 2A. Beeston Valley ran out 5-4 winners at Boots. Rob Brown and Steve Mallory helped David Lloyd WB 2 to a 5-4 win at University 3 in 3B.

Terry Hall and Tony Walsh scored all Trent University Staff's rubbers in a 3-6 loss at David Lloyd Aspley 2 in 5B.

Keeping Up the Pressure
26 January 2005

Phoenixwood kept up their challenge at the top of the Notts Senior Badminton Association Ladies Premier with a 9-0 win over struggling Bingham 2.

Phoenixwood 3 had a 6-3 success at East Leake, with the experienced June Mathews and Pat Davidson taking three.

Crusader picked up their first win in 2B, beating Bingham 3 7-2. Beeston Valley 2 also got off the mark, beating St Giles 6-3 through Alison Bexon and Helen Chapman.

Crusader took over the top spot in Division One Mixed after beating Boots 7-2.

Andy Martin and Ruth Coleman were unbeaten for David Lloyd WB in their 5-4 win at Beeston Fields 2.

But six three-setters were needed to decide Carlton Forum's clash with University Hospital. Richard Pulford and June Williams set up the 6-3 win for Carlton Forum.

Beeston Valley 2 remain unbeaten at the top of 4B after pipping Nottm Vets 3, despite a maximum from Wendy Walton and Mike Nettleton.

Bingham's hopes of retaining the Men's Premier Trophy were boosted by a 9-0 win over West Bridgford 2.

Byron 2 Double Up To Go Top
19 January 2005

Byron 2 leapt into the lead in Division 2A Mixed by beating two of their nearest challengers 6-3.

Will Simpson and Jeannie Mitchell took the honours with a maximum at David Lloyd WB, while Matt Adcock and Dot Herbert were unbeaten at home to Redhill 2.

In the Premier Division, West Bridgford got back on the winning trail. Sunny Kotecha and Sue Allen were undefeated in University Hospital's 6-3 win at Beeston Fields in 2A.

Veterans Ian Price and Jackie Jebb were unbeaten to lead Byron 3 to a 5-4 win at Carlton to go to the top of Division 3A, as were Ben Gardner and Yi Ling Soou for University 4 in their 5-4 win at Boots 3 in 3B.

Nottingham Vets 3's 6-3 win at Adbolton Crows 3 was highlighted by three rubbers from Ken Richardson and Jean Kirk - all in three sets - Crows bouncing back to win at Beeston Fields 4 by the same score.

Woodthorpe went down 5-4 at David Lloyd WB 2 in 5A. Bill Houghton and Pam Atkins recorded a maximum to guide Nottingham Vets 4 to a 7-2 win over Southwell Centre 2 in the same Division, as Carlton Forum 3 registered a 7-2 win against East Leake 2 in 6.

Beeston Fields took over the leadership of Division 2A Men's with a 7-2 victory at luckless Beeston Valley, who also suffered defeats at David Lloyd WB and Phoenixwood 2.

University Hospital gained their first win by beating Boots 6-3. Carlton Forum 2 came out top in the local derby at Carlton 7-2 and followed this by winning 8-1 at Bingham 3 to go top of Division 2A. Redhill 3 topped Division 4A by beating Phoenixwood 3 7-2.

David Lloyd WB 4 edged to their first win, 5-4 at Beeston Valley 4, in 5A, despite the home side's Harry Stanley and Simon Carter being unbeaten.

In only two matches in the Ladies League, Adbolton Crows scored their first win in Division 1, beating Carlton Forum 7-2 with three rubbers from Jane Rudge and Donna Finlay.

Tight At The Top Of The Table

It's getting tight at the top of Notts Senior Badminton Association Division One Men after Forest 2 pipped Byron 5-4. Robin Harris and Kev Marriott were unbeaten.

Darryl Roebuck and Ian Whyld did well for West Bridgford, but University won 6-3.

Charlie Parr and Adrian Elson scored all the University Hospital rubbers in a 6-3 loss at David Lloyd West Bridgford in 2A.

Five three-setters were needed to resolve the Mixed 2B encounter between University 3 and Adbolton.

St Giles had a 5-4 win over John Carroll in 6A, despite a maximum from Ken Spencer and Sharon Gibson.

Forest have made a bright start to their Ladies Premier campaign, with 8-1 home wins over Bingham 1 and Nottm Vets.

Carroll On Song in 2B
1 December 2004

John Carroll got off to a good start in Men's 2B when despite having to concede three because of injury, they defeated Carlton 5-4, followed by Carlton Forum 2 6-3. Claudius Gayle and Ian Thompson recorded a maximum in both matches to take them top of the table.

Redhill suffered two 5-4 losses in Men's Premier, going down at University - for whom Joe Shimbart and Tim Eaton were unbeaten - then succumbing to Bingham 2.

In Division 1, Forest 2 upset Beauvale's winning run with a 6-3 win, despite the home side's Mark Ross and Peter Mills being undefeated they bounced back to overcome Phoenixwood 8-1.

Ian Richardson and Ian Price's maximum led Byron 3 to a 5-4 verdict against Nottm Vets in 3A, Vets losing by the same score to league leaders Kirkby Crocs who were anchored by a maximum from first pair Mark and Neil Buttery.

Division 3B saw Beeston Valley 2 move into second place with an 8-1 win over Woodborough, while leaders University 3 consolidated their position by beating Boots 2 8-1.

In 4B Kevin Richardson and Andrew Longton were instrumental in East Leake 2's 7-2 success against David Lloyd WB 2 by taking their three.

Crusader stay in the frame in Division 1 Mixed, Jon Orchard and Yvonne Jackson being unbeaten in a 5-4 win at University 2, Byron moving top by beating Bingham 3 7-2.

Graham Wallace and Alison Bexon were undefeated in Beeston Valley's 6-3 win at Beeston Fields 3 in Division 2B, Steve Wade and Sue Allen's maximum guiding Univ Hospital 2 to a 5-4 victory over Carlton 1 in 3A.

In 3B Colin and Vicki Leach registered a maximum in Adbolton Crow 2's 5-4 win against Southwell Centre with Southwell 2 beating David Lloyd WB 2 7-2 in 5A.

Phoenixwood's second 8-1 win of the season saw them defeat Beeston Fields in Ladies Premier. Five three-setters were required to resolve the Adbolton Crows versus Boots contest in Division 1, Boots winning 5-4 before losing 7-2 to University, three rubbers coming from Zoe Gilbert and Louise Tarbit.

Leaders David Lloyd WB had two wins in 2A, 7-2 at University 2 and 6-3 at Univ Hospital. Ruth Coleman and Vicki Reek were unbeaten in both.

Bridgford Do The Double

West Bridgford have opened with two 9-0 wins in the Ladies Premier section.

Phoenixwood did the double over Nottm Vets, while Angela Nowell and Tracie Green starred in Sherwood Mount's 6-3 win at Woodborough in 3D.

Forest Take The Honours

Forest's second team recorded a memorable victory this week in the NBA Premier Mixed by defeating West Bridgford 1st 6-3, highlighted by a magnificent treble from Jason Smith and Ellen Housley.

This was West Bridgford's first defeat - albeit missing two top players - since the 1992-93 season when they lost to Forest.

Forest 1st were also not to be denied, beating University 5-4, despite a maximum from the students' Martin Tullet and Jo Richens. This was followed with a 7-2 win, three rubbers coming from Adam Buck and Sam Wadsworth.

Ben Sanders and Lynn Davison were undefeated in Beeston Fields 6-3 win at Boots in Division One to go top of the league as a maximum from Simon Vanderwalt and Jackie Thompson guided Redhill 2nd to a 6-3 win over Univ Hospital 1st.

Carlton Forum 1st's Ian Quinton and Jenny Wallace recorded a maximum in their 7-2 triumph over Phoenixwood 3rd, while in 2A University 3rd had a close 5-4 win at Beeston Fields 3rd with Steve Whieldon and Zoe Gilbert taking three.

Carlton edged home 5-4 in a local derby against Forum 2nd in a match of five three-setters in 3A. John Clayton and Lynn Field anchored Radcliffe Knights 1st's 5-4 success over Carlton 2nd in 4A with a maximum.

Beauvale Are Bouncing Back

After suffering relegation from the men's Premier last season, Beauvale began their fightback with two narrow wins at Carlton Forum and University.

Although each home side possessed a dominant pair taking three rubbers - Andrew Shaw and Richard Pulford for Forum and Tim Davies and Ben Gardener for the Students - Beauvale won 5-4 on each occasion.

University beat Byron 5-4 in the men's premier, Mike and Chris Oliver with a maximum. Byron hit back to beat Bingham 2 7-2, Matt Adcock and Dale Twigger undefeated.

Adrian Elson and Charlie Parr got maximums for Univ Hospital in 2A, but saw their team lose 5-4 to visitors Phoenixwood 2nd, who lost 7-2 at Carlton Forum 3rd, Darren Day and James Hand with a maximum.

Colin Martin and Li Zhad's maximum anchored Beeston Fields' 6-3 win over Boots, while in 3A Rushcliffe Arena went down 8-1 to both Beeston Fields 2 and a strong Kirkby Crocs side.

University 3rd had two 7-2 victories in 3B, Steve Farey and Alex Pui taking three at Beeston Valley 1, while Daniel Hong and Chris Watson were unbeaten at East Leake.

Adbolton Crows 2nd also opened with two 7-2 triumphs. Graham Nicholls and Brett North recorded a maximum against David Lloyd Aspley 2nd and were undefeated against Carlton 3rd.

Rash Of 9-0 Wins In Opening Week

Southwell Centre got the new Notts Badminton Association season off to a flying start with two 9-0 successes in Division 3B of the Mixed League.

But the Ladies' team in 2A were not able to maintain this impetus, losing 6-3 to visitors Phoenixwood III. Hannah Daykin and Alison Wellings scored all Southwell's rubbers.

The Premier Mixed Division saw Forest defeat Forest II 8-1, while Nottingham Vets' debut in this division was a close affair. They lost 6-3 to Redhill after five three-setters, all of which fell to Redhill.

Redhill III also had five three-setters in Division 2B, but went down 7-2 to Adbolton Crows.

Two Boots' teams also suffered 7-2 losses, the seconds losing at Byron III in 3A and the thirds at Nottingham Vets II, where Andy Morrell and Chris Richardson were dominant.

Rushcliffe Arena registered two wins in 4A, three rubbers from Phil Marshall and Doreen Connor guiding them to a 5-4 success at Carlton II. They followed up with an 8-1 home win against Woodborough.

Jon Apedaile and Rachel McGrath's maximum led Sherwood Mount II to a 6-3 win at Adbolton Crows IV in 5B.

In 6A Brian Hayles and Monday Chaknavarti were unbeaten to anchor Radcliffe Knights II's 6-3 victory at University Staff. Andy Tyas and Greg Thomas were the stars for Carlton Forum II in their opening 5-4 win at Adbolton Crows in Mens Division 2B, taking their three rubbers in a close contest.

Kirkby Crocodiles' new recruits, Mark and Neil Buttery, were unbeaten in the 5-4 opener against Byron III in 3A.

Division 3B saw another close affair as Beeston Valley II edged to a 5-4 win over East Leake, Neil Hammacott and Andrew Perry taking three for Valley, while in 4A Steve Ward and Jeff Roberts were unbeaten in Sherwood Mount's 6-3 victory over Nottingham Vets II. They then came a cropper at St Giles', losing 9-0.

Rushcliffe Arena II scored two victories in 5A, defeating new club Experian 8-1 and then Beeston Valley IV 9-0.

Carlton III beat Sherwood Mount II 6-3 in Division 5A, Richard Lambert and Stuart Stafford notching a maximum.

Redhill Ladies made a convincing start to their Division One campaign, overwhelming both Carlton Forum and Adbolton Crows 9-0, none of the 18 rubbers going to three ends.

In 3A, a maximum from Sue Brewill and Donna Finlay led Adbolton Crows II to a 7-2 win at Beeston Valley II.
