It was the first time that badminton has been included in the Nottinghamshire Youth Games. Eight Local Authorities in the County had entered teams of 10 non-County Junior players. Each team comprised of 5 boys and 5 girls. Some of the Nottinghamshire Junior County squad turned out for the day to help and during the interval showed their expertise by giving an Exhibition match. They then allowed the team players to challenge them. John Briggs Chairman of BA of E and Nottinghamshire was on hand to present awards to everyone who took part. I’m sure that everyone who turned out to help or support the teams must have felt as proud as I did of these young players and their skills at badminton. A truly great tournament and a step further
