Veteran teams compete in National League Finals

Nottinghamshire’s O/45, O/55 and O/65 teams all qualified to play in the Masters Inter County League Finals at Stoke over the weekend of 5/6th May.

The semi-finals were played on Saturday, when the 45’s and 55’s lost to Lancashire 0-12 and 3-9 respectively leaving both teams playing for 3rd/4th place on Sunday. While the 65’s beat Gloucestershire 6-3 to go forward to play in the final against Kent.

Sunday proved to be a more competitive day for Notts. The 45’s played Wiltshire and were level 4-4 after the Mens and Ladies doubles. They won three of the four Mixed, resulting in a good 7-5 win and 3rd position overall.

The 55’s played Gloucestershire and were 5-3 up going into the Mixed doubles. They lost the top three Mixed leaving Notts. having to win the remaining 4th Mixed rubber to draw the match. After a tense three-setter Notts. came through to level 6-6 on rubbers, games 14-14 with Notts. winning the match by 17 points, 501-484. Taking 3rd position overall.

Kent proved too strong for the 65’s who lost 2-7 in the final, with Notts. winning one Ladies and one Mixed rubber.

Jenny Stark playing for the O/65’s, won five of her six matches over the weekend.
