O40s lose out in the play offs

The O/40’s 1st team played Cheshire in a Play Off match on Saturday 17th April at Chilwell Olympia. The winners of this match would play in the Inter County League Finals next weekend at Fenton Manor, Stoke on Trent.

Both teams had previously won their respective divisions comfortably. Nottinghamshire fought hard but were unable to overcome a very strong Cheshire side, losing the match 3-9.

The three rubbers were won by Loraine Buck and Karen Gleave, winning both of their Ladies doubles, also Kevin Langley and Jane Smith winning at 3rd Mixed.

The O/45’s did win their Play Off against Derbyshire last month and are the only team to represent Nottinghamshire in the Finals. The four teams contesting the O/45’s finals are: Cheshire v Nottinghamshire and Essex v Avon. The winners of each match play for 1st/2nd place on Sunday afternoon. While the losers play for 3rd/4th place Sunday morning.
