With the Premier Mixed and Ladies trophies already in their locker, West Bridgford & Long Eaton 1 duly completed a magnificent triple crown by securing the Mens Premier trophy when defeating eventual runners-up, Rolls Royce 1, by 6-3. Two pairs, Martin Tullett & Pete Gooden and Darryl & Kristian Roebuck were unbeaten.
Also in the Premier division, a strengthened Byron 1 team won their final match 6-3 against Bingham 1, which saved them from relegation. In Division 1, Nottingham Veterans 1 also avoided the drop by taking four rubbers against West Bridgford & Long Eaton 2.
In a relegation battle in Division 2A, Mansfield Oaktree visited Carlton 1 needing an 8-1 win, but could only achieve a 7-2 success thereby going down by one rubber! Simon Barnes & Steve Eade were undefeated for Boots 2 in their 6-3 win over Byron 4 in Division 3A to finish mid-table. Arboretum 1 did their promotion chances no harm by winning 8-1 at David Lloyd West Bridgford 3 in Division 4A.
David Lloyd Aspley 3 notched their first win in Division 5A beating Radcliffe Knights 6-3, but then went down by the same score to St Giles 2, Sean Hogan & Nigel Wright taking three rubbers. Rolls Royce 3 clinched the title in this division with a 6-3 victory at East Leake 3, John Slater & Nigel Cook recording a maximum.
George Brook & Sarah Heathcote anchored Bingham 2’s 6-3 win over Forest 2 in Premier Mixed by taking three rubbers, all in three sets. Meanwhile, Craig & Toni Favill were unbeaten to guide Mansfield Oaktree to a 5-4 win over Beeston Valley 1 in Division 2A. Martin Edwards & Zoe Kirk scored a maximum for East Leake 1 in their 7-2 win at University 2 in Division 2B, as did Craig & Maxine Day for Mapperley Park 3 in a 7-2 win against Kimberley 1 in Division 3B.
Callum Magee & Heidi Wiltshire scored all Arboretum 1’s rubbers in a 6-3 loss at Beeston Valley 2 in Division 4A with Valley 2 then beating Southwell Centre 2 by the same score, James Capel & Louise Finlay taking three rubbers.
Bingham 5 clinched the Division 4B title when beating Beeston Fields 5 by 9-0. David Lloyd Aspley 3 edged a close contest in Division 6A, winning 5-4 against Unity, Robert & Karen Buckland registering a maximum, and thereby taking the Division 6A title.
Jane Smith & Paula Wilson were undefeated in Bingham 1’s 6-3 win at Beeston Fields 1 in Ladies Premier. Carlton saved themselves from relegation from Division 2 when winning 5-4 at Phoenixwood 3 with three rubbers from Jess Martin & Ros Tuffrey, but then lost to Crusader by 6-3, Jane Marston & Yvonne Orchard being unbeaten.
Barbara Henley & Jenny Osborne’s three rubbers led Redhill 2 to a 5-4 win over Boots in Division 3, as did Rachel McGrath & Gill Webster’s three rubbers in Arboretum’s 5-4 victory against Byron 2 in Division 5.
