Forest back in the top flight

Forest 1 have regained their Premier Mens status at the first attempt after relegation last season. Adam Buck & Jason Smith were undefeated in their final 6-3 win away at Phoenixwood 1 to take the Division 1 title.

In Division 2A, an end-of-season rush of fixtures just failed to put University 2 in the promotion picture – 9-0 wins over Redhill 1 and Kimberley 1 and a 5-4 win at Rushcliffe Arena 1 where the home side’s Steve Barton & Steve Wilks were unbeaten.

A similar late set of fixtures, however, was enough to move University 3 into second spot and promotion from Division 3A with the team gaining 8-1 victories over Beeston Valley 1 and Boots 2 and a 9-0 win over St Giles 1. Boots 2 bounced back to win 6-3 at Southwell Centre 1, Simon Barnes & Steve Eade taking three rubbers. In Division 5B, Southwell Centre 2’s 8-1 win over Experian gained them promotion.

John Campbell & Kate Strong were unbeaten for University 1 in a 5-4 win against Forest 2 in Mixed Premier, which retains University 1’s Premier status. Forest 3 defeated Nottingham Veterans 1 by 6-3 in Division 1, Alan Scott & Jo Sixsmith being undefeated, but Veterans secured enough rubbers to stay in Division 1.

Colin & Vicki Leach were unbeaten for David Lloyd Aspley 1 in a 7-2 win at Byron 4 in Division 2B but this may not be enough to stave off relegation. Rob Bryant & Lisa Crouch recorded a maximum to guide Kimberley 1 to a 6-3 win against Southwell Centre 1 in Division 3B. Beeston Fields 3 staked their claim for promotion in this division by beating Mapperley Park 3 by 5-4, Richard Leatherland & Val Richmond being undefeated.

University 4 vs Rolls Royce in Division 5B saw University’s Claire Marshall in opposition to Rolls Royce’s Claire Marshall, the Derby side winning 8-1 to continue their drive for promotion. James & Rebecca Southwell registered a maximum for East Leake 4 in the same division but saw their team go down 5-4 to Arboretum 2.

Claire Mercer & Lizzie Hunt notched a maximum to lead Bingham 2 to a 6-3 win against Byron 1 and promotion from Ladies Division 1.

In Division 3, both Kimberley and Boots defeated University 2 by 5-4 to stay in the race for second place. Mapperley Park 2 have taken top spot beating University 2 by 6-3, Cat Kilburn & Ruth Wear taking all the students’ rubbers. Rolls Royce have taken second place in Division 5 after beating Unity by 9-0.
