Bingham 1’s hopes of retaining their Premier Mens title finally disappeared after losing 6 3 to potential champions West Brigford & Long Eaton 1, whose final match against Rolls Royce will decide the title. Meanwhile, Bingham 2 made their Premier Division status safe by winning 5-4 at Byron 2 to finish mid-table.
In Division 1, Phoenixwood 1 stayed in the running for promotion by winning 7-2 against Forest 2, Carl Firmstone & Oliver Ward being undefeated. Forest 2 then bounced back to beat Bingham 3 by the same score.
Rolls Royce 2 have taken the Division 2A title, Sam Burdon & Matt Armson taking three rubbers in a 6-3 win at Naseeb 1. Bingham 4’s 8-1 win against Beeston Valley 1 has clinched them the Division 3A title. Also in Division 3A, a closer contest saw Boots 2 win 5-4 at St Giles 1 despite the home side’s Alex Mee & Graydon Peacock taking their three rubbers.
Khalid Mirza & Naveed Iqbal scored three rubbers for Naseeb 2 against Boots 1 in Division 3B, but Boots 1 took the match 5-4 and thereby the Division 3B title. Dave Sanders & James Latham were unbeaten for Beeston Fields 3 in a 7-2 win at Phoenixwood 3 to top Division 4B. Other matches in this division saw Phoenixwood 3 beat Arboretum 3 by 7-2, followed by a 5-4 win at Kimberley 2, Stuart Fredericks & King Lau being undefeated, whilst David Lloyd West Bridgford 2 took the second promotion spot by winning 6-3 at Arboretum 2.
West Bridgford & Long Eaton are virtually certain to retain the Ladies Premier trophy after comfortable victories over relegation candidates Redhill 1 (9-0) and Nottingham Veterans 1 (8-1). Forest 1 have again taken second place with a 7-2 win at Bingham 1.
Jane Marston & Yvonne Orchard were unbeaten to take all Crusader’s rubbers in a 6-3 loss at East Leake in Division 2. Forest 2 have taken the Division 4 title after winning 7 2 at Beeston Valley 2 and combined with former favourites Rolls Royce losing 5-4 at home to David Lloyd Aspley, the Sachdeva sisters anchoring the win with a maximum.
West Bridgford & Long Eaton 1 have retained the Premier Mixed trophy with an outstanding record, defeating Beeston Fields 1 by 9-0 in their final match. Forest 1 have taken third place after winning 5-4 at Byron 1, Adam Buck & Anna Skrobacz being undefeated. West Bridgford & Long Eaton 2 stay on target for the Division 1 title, Claudius & Kerry-Ann Gayle being unbeaten in a 6-3 win at Beeston Fields 2.
Two victories by Bingham 3, 9-0 at Phoenixwood 3 and 5-4 at East Leake 1 (George Brook & Clare Mercer notching a maximum), has carried them to the Division 2B title. In Division 3B, Tony Gleave & Jan Johnson were undefeated in scoring all Nottingham Veterans 3’s rubbers in a 6-3 defeat at Beeston Fields 3.
Rolls Royce maintain the pressure in Division 5B with a 9-0 win against Phoenixwood 5. Meanwhile, Jeff Roberts & Gill Webster registered a maximum to lead Arboretum 2 to a 6-3 win against St Giles 2.
